Former City Council Member Brian Mischnick was recognized at the Dec. 3 meeting of the Alliance City Council for his years of service to the city as a council member.
Mayor John McGhehey read a proclamation recognizing Mischnick during the meeting, highlighting his service and leadership demonstrated in his nearly 10 years of service to the city both on and off the council.
“Whereas Brian Mischnick has exemplified dedication and leadership throughout nearly 10 years of service to the City of Alliance, first as a planning commissioner from July 2015 through November 2016, then as a City Council Member from December 6, 2016 through December 3, 2024, and whereas Brian Mischnick has demonstrated strong leadership and dedication to community service in his tenure by also serving as Vice Mayor from December 4, 2018 through May 16, 2023,” McGhehey read from the proclamation.
McGhehey noted that during his time on the council, Mischnick promoted a cooperative environment that allowed for smooth transitions to occur within the council. He also proclaimed Mischnick’s strong fiscal management of the city and a common sense approach to government. He attributed Mischnick’s career and background in construction to aid in the construction of several facilities in the city, including the Public Works and Public Transit building, and economic growth in the community.
“Now, therefore, I, John McGhehey, Mayor of the City Council of Alliance, do hereby proclaim Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024 as Brian Mischnick day in recognition of his outstanding contributions, leadership and dedication to the City of Alliance and the Alliance community,” McGhehey said. “I urge all citizens to join me in expressing our deepest gratitude and appreciation of Brian Mischnick for his invaluable service and wish his continue success and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.”
Amid applause from those gathered at the meeting, McGhehey presented a plaque to Mischnick, honoring his service.
