“Family owned businesses are a little special, they’re kind of going by the wayside a little bit. I feel like you can’t beat a family business because it’s their livelihood, they pour everything into it because it’s all they have. We have a true love for it. It’s not like a Walgreen’s, where the people working there and even the person that owns it that doesn’t necessarily care about the kind of service you receive because they just clock in and clock out. For myself, Dave and Blanche and all of the employees it’s more than that because we are a family and I’m not just talking about the Randolph family. I’m talking about the Dave’s Pharmacy family. We have get-togethers outside of work, you invite them all to your wedding because they are your family not because they are acquaintances. There’s a special relationship that is created when you work for a family owned business and when you come into a family owned business,” stated Mikayla Randolph, manager of the pharmacies.
They employ 10 full-time staff members and two part-time. The Hemingford location celebrated six years in business in June and the Alliance location celebrated two at the beginning of July.
Both locations are open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to take care of their patients. They go above and beyond to not only fill prescriptions but take the time to care about each and every patron who walks through their door, or has their prescriptions delivered. This even includes a personal phone call from Dave every year on their birthday.
The wonderful staff has over 118 years of combined experience and are committed to supporting the local communities they serve, shopping local, and protecting the environment. Being committed to recycling is also of great importance at Dave’s, which includes having vials/bottles that are biodegradable. They also offer year-round prescription drug and over the counter medication take back so that they can be recycled properly, not damage the environment or fall into the wrong hands.
They carry vitamin and skincare lines that are certified organic, gluten free, cruelty free, non-gmo, vegan, made in the USA and some even in Nebraska, one for babies.
The newest vitamin line they carry is Olly, which is a brand also carried by Target and Dave’s offers it at the price point.
One of the many unique programs that Dave’s offers to the communities they serve is a free vitamin program for children ages 2-12. While the doors were closed during the pandemic they took the time to deep clean and sanitize both locations and they continue to sanitize after each person that comes in, to take the best care of their patients no matter what.
