Navy Club Blanks Gordon 10 to 0 for 22nd Win

Strong pitching and 14 hits were plenty for the Alliance Navy team on Tuesday in a road game against Gordon. In a good tune up before district play, the Spartans defeated Security First 10 to 0 in the first game of a doubleheader played in Gordon. With the victory,the Peltz Co improved to 22-22-2 for the season. Two Spartans ended the game with 3 hits each. They were Israel Garcia and Miguel Galvan. On the hill, starter Carson Stull tossed 2.2 scoreless frames while relief pitcher Jackson Devlin ended the shutout with 2.1 of no run ball. Alliance scored 5 runs in their final at bat to win the 5 inning match up.

Alliance scored one tally in the top of the first to take the early lead. Teagan O’Gorman walked to began the action and advance after a single by Tanner Salcido. The Navy then got into the scoring column following an RBI hit by Galvan. Stull had a scoreless inning on the mound in the home half. The Peltz Co continued their hot hitting in the second. Reese Muhr singled and then stole second and later scored after a run scoring hit by Logan Freiberger. The Spartans third run then came after an RBI triple off the bat of Garcia. Security First went down quietly in the bottom of the inning and after 2 frames of action, Alliance was up 3 to 0.

Galvan continued his big night in the top of the third with second knock as the Spartans scored again. After stealing second, Galvan plated Alliance’s fourth run after an RBI ground out by Casyn Rodriguez. Both Stull and Devlin would record strikeouts in the bottom of the inning, keeping the shutout alive. Inning #4 had the Spartans extend their margin with another run. Hits by Garcia and O’Gorman pushed the Gordon deficit to 5 to 0. Security First was held without a tally in the bottom of the fourth and the contest went to the fifth with the Peltz Co ahead 5 to 0.

Any hopes of a Gordon comeback were foiled in the top of the fifth as the Spartans pushed 5 across the plate. The rally began with a hit by Rodriguez and Devlin reaching after being hit by a pitch. An RBI double by Muhr made it a 6 to 0 game. Freiberger was next and his hit put the Spartan lead at 7. The Navy squad then went on by 9 following hits by Garcia and O’Gorman. A sac fly by Salcido ended the scoring as Alliance surge ahead 10 to 0. Galvan would collect his third knock on the game later in the frame but was stranded on the bases.
