A thirteen hit, fourteen run effort paced the Alliance Navy team past the Bulls from Buffalo 14 to 6 in a ball game played in Torrington on Saturday. The Spartans scored in every inning in getting the victory. Alliance ended the five inning affair with 6 runs in their last at bat. Peltz Co pitcher Miguel Galvan went the distance for the Spartans allowing 7 hits and striking out 5. With the win, the Spartans improve to 11-14-1 for the year. Two Alliance hitters finished the contest with 3 knocks apiece. They were Israel Garcia and Dixon Bair.
Buffalo was the visitors on the scoreboard and scored twice in the first inning to take a lead. A pair of walks and a steal of home accounted for the Wyoming team’s first tally. The top half of the first inning closed with a Bull RBI single and Buffalo up 2 to 0. Alliance answered with a 2 spot to tie the game in the bottom of the frame. Garcia nice game started with a double and he moved into scoring position after a hit by Fletcher Moseman. Up next was Reese Muhr who walked to load the bags for Bair. The Spartan second baseman also walked to get the Peltz Co close at 2 to 1. Alliance then knotted the battle at 2 when Casyn Nelson reached after being hit by a pitch. The matchup went to the second tied at 2.
A double and single by Wyoming in the top of the second made the score 3 to 2. In the home half of inning 3, it was the Spartans taking control. The Peltz Co plated three tallies to surge ahead 5 to 3. Singles by Logan Freiberger and Garcia got the Spartans off to a good start. Tanner Salcido was next and his RBI groundout tied the game at 3. The big frame continued when Moseman walked and Garcia stole home to put the Navy club up by 1. Alliance added 2 more scores in the inning thanks to an RBI groundout by Muhr and another knock by Bair. In the third, Galvan kept the Bulls off the scoreboard while Alliance added a pair of runs. The Spartan pitcher reached on an error by Buffalo and was pinched run for by Jayden Garcia. A hit by Nelson ensued as the Spartans kept the pressure on the Bulls. Alliance’s sixth came when Garcia stole home. The inning came to a finish with Nelson swiping home as well. With 3 innings in the book, the Navy squad was up 7 to 4.
Three scores by the Bulls in the top of the fourth closed their deficit to one at 7 to 6. Galvan got 2 k’s for Alliance in the inning but 3 hits, a walk, and a passed ball sliced the Spartan advantage to 1. In the home half of the frame, Alliance scratched one run across the plate. Hits by Muhr and Bair plus a walk to Galvan loaded the bases for Jackson Devlin. The Alliance right fielder also drew a walk as the Spartan lead went to 8 to 6. Two more strikeouts by Galvan kept the Navy squad ahead in the top of the fifth. The game came to a finish with the Peltz Co garnering 6 scores in their last at bat. Knocks by Israel Garcia, Moseman, and Bair plus 2 miscues by the Bulls made the score 10 to 6. The spree went on with Alliance getting RBI hits by Galvan and Nelson. A pair of passed ball gave the Spartans a 13 to 6 and the contest ended when Devlin’s hit was booted by the Bulls. Final Alliance 14 Buffalo 6
