Navy Takes Game Two 8 to 2

Game 2 of a doubleheader between the Peltz Co prep team and the Navy squad ended the same as game 1 with the Navy coming out on top. The games played Thursday had the preps falling in game one 11 to 3 and dropping the nightcap 8 to 2. Pitching for the navy team was starter Teagan O’Gorman who went 2 inning and relievers Eban Lore and Jackson Devlin. Casyn Nelson went the distance for the preps. O’Gorman led the Navy offense with 2 hits. Overall, the navy team had 8 hits on the night. The preps had 5 hits with Roy Torres, Cisco Cody, Dixon Bair, Sonny Hernandez, and Nelson collecting one each.

A hit by Hernandez was the lone highlight for the preps in the top of the first but the Spartan second baseman was stranded. In the bottom, the Navy used a pair of hits to plate 3 runs. O’Gorman started the rally with a single. Israel Garcia was next and a pair of errors by the preps scored both runners. Reese Muhr then singled and a steal of home made the score 3 to 0 after one inning of action. The preps would threaten in the second with hits by Cody and Nelson but an inning ending double play by the navy foiled the rally. In the home half, the navy lead grew to 4 after a walk and steal of home by O’Gorman.

Torres started a mini run in the top of the third. The Peltz Co first baseman singled and eventually scored on an error by the navy team. A hit by Kyler Hamel in the bottom of inning #3 gave the navy a chance to increase their advantage but Hamel failed to score. The top of the fourth saw Bair get a hit but no runs were scored by the preps. Four runs by the navy in the bottom put the game away. Hits by Jayden Garcia, O’Gorman, and Israel Garcia put the score at 5 to 1. More hits then ensued from Fletcher Moseman and Devlin as the navy saw their margin go to 7 to 1. The inning came to an end with a prep error and another navy tally. Down 8 to 1, the preps used a hit by batter and a navy miscue to score one run but it wasn’t enough. Final Navy 8 Prep 2.
