A late rally by the Security first Regulators from Gordon was turned away as the Peltz Co Navy club hung on for a 7 to 6 in a legion baseball contest played in Alliance on Friday. The Spartans put 5 runs on the board in the first frame and led 7 to 0 after four innings before the Gordon rally. Starting Alliance pitcher Kyler Hamel went 4.2 inning, giving up just 3 hits and striking out 3. Also pitching for the Spartans were Jayden Garcia and Jackson Devlin. The Peltz Co ended the night with 6 hits.
A double play by Alliance in the top of the first gave the Spartans a little momentum. In the bottom of the frame, the Alliance offense quickly went to work. Teagan O’Gorman started the rally with a walk and eventually scored on an RBI ground out by Tanner Salcido. A Gordon error was next and a hit by Spartan Fletcher Moseman continued the inning. Following a walk, Hamel delivered with a hit as the Peltz Co increased their margin. Another error by the Regulators ensued that push the score to 3 to 0. The inning came to a close with a 2 run double by Devlin and after one inning of action, Alliance led 5 to 0.
Gordon would go 1-2-3 in the their attempt in the second. Once again it was O’Gorman starting a rally for Alliance in their try in the bottom of the inning. A single by the Spartan second baseman gave the home team a chance. The Peltz Co then went up by 6 with a run batted in hit by Salcido. No runs were scored in inning three with the Spartan getting a knock by Casyn Nelson.
Hamel again was solid on the bump for Alliance in the fourth with the Security first squad failing to get into the scoring column. The Peltz Co would scratch one run across in the home half of the inning. Salcido reached after getting hit by a pitch and scored while stealing home. After 4 complete, Alliance was up 7 to 0. Things got a little tight in the fifth with Gordon scoring 3 runs. The guests used a couple of hits, a walk, and a miscue by the Navy to slice their deficit to 7 to 3. Alliance went 1-2-3 in the at bat in the bottom of the inning. Three more tallies by the Regulators in their last at bat pulled the visitors closer. Gordon scored 3 runs on a combination of hits, walks, and an Alliance error to make the score 7 to 6. Devlin, the Peltz Co. reliever, then got the save on a groundout to second.
