A no hitter tossed by Alliance’s Jaxon Poss was recorded in a 14 to 0 victory over the Regulators from Gordon on Tuesday in legion baseball played in Alliance. Poss went the distance, going 5 innings while striking out 8 Security First batters. Meanwhile, the Peltz Co squad hammered out 9 hits in winning their 11th game in a row. Two Spartans-EJ Garcia and Tanner Salcido-led the offense with 2 hits each. Alliance was strong from the start as the Spartans scored 10 runs in the first inning in improving to 11 and 1 for the year.
Security First was held scoreless in the top of inning #1. In the home half of the frame, the Spartan used 7 hits to take a big lead. Poss walked to begin the rally and moved to second following a walk by Creighton Fritzler. An error by the guests then loaded the sacks for Mikey Johnson whose RBI fielder’s choice made the score 1 to 0. Garcia was next and responded with an RBI double, giving the Peltz Co a 3 run cushion. Hits then ensued by Tanner Salcido and Jackson Devlin, making the scoreboard read Alliance 5 Gordon 0. A sac fly by Lexton Salcido put the Gordon deficit at 6. This brought up Poss again and his triple plated another Spartan tally. Fritztler then singled and after an RBI triple by Kegan Nelson, Alliance was out in front 9 to 0. The hit parade ended with an RBI single by Johnson and the Peltz Co leading 10 to 0.
Two strike outs were recorded by Poss in the top of the second as the Spartans maintain their advantage. The Peltz Co failed to score in their attempt in the bottom of the second and the contest moved to the third with Alliance up 10 to 0. Poss continued his fine pitching in top of the third, registering 2 more k’s. The offense would again come to life for the Spartans in the home half of the third. Once again, it was Poss who started the scoring by reaching base following an error by Security First. Two Alliance walks were next, loading the bags for Garcia. The Alliance third baseman was up for the challenge and his 2nd two RBI knock made the scorebook read 12 to 0. Another single by Tanner Salcido gave the Peltz Co their 13th run and the scoring came to an end with a sacrifice fly by Teagan O’Gorman. Heading to the fourth, the Spartans were ahead 14 to 0.
Gordon went down silently in the top of inning 4 with Poss getting 2 more strikeouts. Alliance also failed to score in the inning and the contest went to the fifth with the Spartans in control 14 to 0. The Regulators were denied any tallies in their final attempt with Poss striking out 2 more. Final Alliance 14 Gordon 0
