Ogallala Powers Past Lady Bulldogs

Using a nice combination of three point shooting and a strong inside game, the Ogallala Lady Indians bested Alliance 70 to 23 in basketball action on Friday. Alliance fell behind early as a swarming OG defense limited the Dogs to just 9 first half points. With the defeat, AHS now has a 4 and 12 record for the season. Ogallala was also tough in the JV game, downing the Dogs 57 to 8. Alliance was led in scoring by Reese Armstrong who ended with 5 points.

Four three pointers by the guests in the first period got the Indians off to a super start. Down 8, AHS got a pair of free throws by Brooke Bailey to get on the board. Later in the quarter, baskets by Olivia Krejci and KiKi Adams made the game a 13 to 6 affair. Unfortunately, OG came back with 2 threes and a free throw to increase their margin. After one period of play, the visitors were up 20 to 6.

Ogallala had their best scoring quarter in the second, tallying 29 points. Play began in the second with 12 in a row by OG as the Dog deficit went to 26. A free throw by Armstrong stopped the run but 8 straight by the guests made the scoreboard read Ogallala 40 Alliance 7 with 2 minutes left in the half. Two more Armstrong charity strips ensued and the half came to a finish with OG in charge 49 to 9.

Due the 40 point rule, the clock ran for the rest of the game which limited the possessions of both teams. Alliance got third period points by Bailey, Armstrong, and Paz Cody to account for their 7 tallies. The Indians scored 13 points in quarter #3 and led 62 to 16 heading to the fourth. A deuce by Krejci and free throws by Brinlee Lanik and Bailey is how the scoring for Alliance went in the early stages of the final period. The contest closed with a trey by Bulldog Kaelyn Mazanec.
