Round 2 of the Class B district 7 tournament featured a match up between the Alliance White squad and Chadron. A strong pitching performance by Spartan Espen Lanik paced Alliance to a 9 to 0 victory. Lanik went the distance, giving up just one hit in helping the Peltz Co go to 25-3-1 on the year. The game was played in Sidney and was called after 5 innings due to the run rule. Alliance scored three times in frames 2, 4, and 5 in getting the win. Creighton Fritzler led Alliance on offense with 2 of the Spartans’ 6 knocks.
Alliance went to the plate first and failed to score. Post 12 also went scoreless in their home half with Lanik getting one k in the frame. The Spartans had only one hit in the second but scored 3 times. Alliance loaded the bags with Nason Thompson reaching after being hit by a pitch and walks to Tony Escamilla and Jaxson Esparza. The White team then scored run #1 after a sac fly by Jaxon Poss. A wild pitch by PVC made it 2 to 0. The scoring came to a close with the Peltz Co getting a run scoring hit by Fritzler. In the bottom of the second, Lanik had another strikeout as Chadron again failed to get into the scoring column.
Inning three was a scoreless frame for both squads. The highlight of the inning came in the home half with Lanik striking out the side. Alliance bats came alive again in the top of the fourth with three tallies. A double by Braeden Clarke started the spree. Nemnich had a sacrifice fly that made it 4 to 0. A passed ball by Chadron followed that scored Lanik who reached on a miscue by Post 12. The Peltz Co scoring came to a close with hits by Thompson and Tony Escamilla plus another error by Chadron. Up 6 to 0, Lanik again recorded three more strikeouts and the contest went to the fifth with the White group ahead 6 to 0.
Three more Alliance tallies in their final at bat put the nail in the coffin. The scoring started with a single by Poss and Clarke reaching after another error by PVC. Poss would score on the miscue by Chadron, making the score 7 to 0. The Spartans then got an RBI 2 bagger from Fritlzer giving the Peltz Co an 8 run lead. A passed ball by Post 12 then gave the Spartans run #9. Chadron went down quietly in their last at bat as Alliance went on to post the 9 to 0 victory.
