Others Nominated for 2019 Person of the Year

Congratulations to the others nominated for Person of the Year 2019.

Brad and Sue Williams

Brad and Sue Williams were nominated by Erin Gorsuch for the 2019 Person of the Year. They are the owners of Williams Jewelers, which was opened in 1965. Brad has been the jeweler for more than 40 years, and Sue has been the manager for almost 20. In 2019, they hosted a fundraiser for the Reza family that raised more than $11,000. They also started the annual Jane’s Closet Poker Run, raising more than $25,000 for Jane’s Closet. After the Community Table began serving, Brad and Sue spearheaded an effort to bring the 300 block of Box Butte Avenue together to serve a meal. Gorsuch said, “Brad and Sue take great pride in providing a welcoming environment in their store for the community. This time of year, especially, they are so grateful to be a part of a community that has allowed them to be in business for such a long period of time.

Lyle Lurz

Lyle Lurz was nominated by Steve Guy for the 2019 Person of the Year. Lurz has been a Martial Art instructor since the 1980s at the YMCA, now the Alliance Recreation Center. Guy said, “He has taught hundreds of students Taekwondo. He is a fourth-degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. He is a great instructor and helps people learn discipline and respect. He is a really great instructor with the little ones. He has made a difference in this community for over 30 years.”
