P.E.O. Chapter HI Takes Second Place at Keep Nebraska Beautiful Awards

Keep Nebraska Beautiful presented Philanthropic Education Organization, P.E.O. Chapter HI with its second place for Civic / Non-Profit Organization Award. This award is open to a nonprofit or community organization for its efforts in beautification, recycling and waste reduction. P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women, educate through scholarships, grants, awards, loans and stewardship of their college, Cottey College and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations.

The members of P.E.O. have assisted in the betterment of the community and helped keep Keith County Beautiful for many years. The group supports the efforts of litter cleanup every spring by taking on the I-80 interchange. They manage to collect 100’s of pounds of litter through these cleanups and help out KKCB.

This group not only has assisted in litter reduction, they also have become the key leaders in the Keith County Area Development Visioning. They help in planting, maintaining and watering the beautiful plants hanging throughout downtown.

Chris Vail, Executive Director of Keep Keith County Beautiful said, “We are so pleased that this group of exceptional volunteers and leaders in Keith County was recognized for their selfless contributions to Keep Keith County Beautiful and the City of Ogallala. Their cause is helping women and providing scholarships for young women.”

Keep Keith County Beautiful has been serving the Ogallala and Keith County area for 22 years and has successfully administered cleanups in the spring and fall, scrap tire, electronic waste, America Recycles Day and Great American Cleanup programs and promotes recycling and litter reduction year round.
