On Friday, Aug. 14, Commander Steve Stanec on behalf of the Alliance American Legion Post 7, presented Kathy Dye with a check in the amount of $500.00 to aid Panhandle Blocks with the expenses involved in making the Quilts of Valor for our area military veterans.
The Quilts of Valor Foundation is a non-profit organization and its mission, “. . . is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.” Since 2003, their volunteers have awarded over 250,000 quilts in the United States and overseas. To date, over 280 quilts have been presented in the Panhandle of Nebraska and nearby states to worthy veterans who have made great sacrifices in serving this nation.
The Alliance American Legion Post 7, who has been serving our veterans, their families and the community since 1919, is honored to have the opportunity to be involved in the Alliance area Quilts of Valor presentation ceremonies.
