Everything seemed to work for the Alliance Junior Peltz Co baseball team Monday in a road game versus Ogallala. The Spartans pounded out 10 hits, committed no errors, and their pitchers issued only 3 walks in an 8 to 0 win over the hosts. Alliance scored in 4 of the six innings in a contest called after
the sixth inning due to the run rule.
Both pitchers, starter Carver Nemnich and Kobe Strom, went 3 innings each and gave up a combined 5 hits. Offensively, Tony Escamilla led the Spartans with 3 hits.
Two extra bases hits got the Peltz Co offense going in the opening inning. A Strom double was followed by a triple by Escamilla as the Spartans grabbed an early 1 to 0 lead. The Adams Insurance Advisors went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the first thanks to 2 strikeouts by Nemnich. Three big Alliance tallies in the second gave the Spartans some breathing room. A bunt single by EJ Garcia began the rally. It was followed by an error by the Advisors and a sac fly by Kegan Nelson which put Alliance ahead 2 to 0. Spartans Braeden Clarke then reached after being hit by a pitch. Clarke would score on an RBI double by Espen Lanik, making the score 3 to 0. The frame closed with a single by Strom and the Peltz Co out in front 4 to 0.
Play slowed in the middle innings with either team scoring. Alliance increased their margin in the top of inning #5. Escamilla started it with a single and scored on an RBI hit by Spartan Jackson Smith. Another hit by Garcia plated the sixth run of the evening as the Peltz Co lead grew to 6 to 0. OG went scoreless in their attempt in the fifth. Two more Alliance runs in the sixth and final inning put the ball game away. Creighton Fritzler started the scoring with a single and it was followed with Jaxson Martinez reaching base after a hit by pitch. Another hit by Escamilla, his third, scored the seventh run. It was followed by an error by the hosts for Alliance run #8. The Spartans ended the shutout win with a double play that finished off the Advisors. Final Alliance 8 OG 0.
