In a game played in Chadron on Wednesday, the Alliance Junior baseball team fell to hosts 10 to 2. The Spartans could manage only 4 hits in a contest called in the fifth inning due to the run rule. Chadron scored in all five innings and rolled to the victory. Pitching for Alliance were Kobe Strom and Nason Thompson.
Action began with the Spartans taking the early lead. Alliance’s Kegan Nelson started the ball game with a leadoff single and would later score on an RBI out by Jackson Smith. Chadron responded with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Two Platte Valley Bank singles plus 2 errors by Alliance allowed the hosts to move ahead 2 to 1. Alliance was denied any runs in the second but did get hits from Jaxon Poss and Lexton Salcido. The margin for Chadron increased in the home half of the second with hosts adding one run on a walk and a double. Momentum definitely went on the side of Chadron in the third. Alliance went scoreless while the PV Bank tallied 4 runs. Five Chadron hits plus a walk and an Alliance error made the score 7 to 1 after 3 innings of play.
In the fourth, the Peltz Co sliced their deficit to 5 on an RBI double by Salcido. Chadron answered back with 2 more scores in the bottom of inning #4. Platte Valley Bank used 2 hits, an Alliance miscue, and a wild pitch to move ahead 9 to 2.
