St. John’s Lutheran Church Piecemakers sit in pews covered with 169 full-size quilts they made in the past year. They also made 39 lap robes, 19 baby/children’s quilts, and four dog beds (made with fabric scraps). Full-size quilts will be given to three congregational seniors, Doves, Capstone Ministries, Human Services, Inc., and Lutheran World Relief. Western Community Health will receive the baby/children’s quilts, and lap robes will be sent to Highland Park Care Center and Western Nebraska Veterans Home. The four dog beds have been donated to the Mission Store. Piecemakers shown are, from left, top row, Michele Schulze, Sharon Jones and Pat Zobel; and front row, Judy Price, Carol Rockwell, Carol McDonald and Melinda Ewing. Many other women also are involved in making quilt tops, cutting squares and assembly.
