Chadron came to town on Sunday for a Junior league game against the Alliance Navy club. The guests jumped to a big lead and then held off the Spartans 7 to 4. A five run last at bat by Post 12 proved to be the difference. With the loss, the Peltz Co has a 21-22-2 mark on the season. Alliance had just 3 hits on the evening. Down 7 to 0 heading to their last attempt, the Navy team plated 4 runs to get close but PVC was able to record the final out in getting the victory. A k in the first inning by Garcia kept the guests off the scoreboard in the early moments. The Navy club also was held without a tally in the home half. Using a pair of walks and an RBI single, Post 12 took a 1 run lead in the second. Garcia would record another strikeout in the frame. Hamel had a single in the bottom of the inning but didn’t score. A bases clearing double by the visitors was the big hit in the spree. Garcia did have two more strikeouts in his last inning on the mound while a strikeout by Hamel finished the rally.
Alliance made things interesting in their final at bat with 4 scores. Walks to Jackson Devlin, Cisco Cody, and Dixon Bair began the scoring. A wild pitch by Chadron then gave the Navy group their first run. Hamel followed with a walk and an RBI groundout by Garcia made it a 7 to 2 battle. The Peltz Co rally continued when Teagan O’Gorman was hit by a pitch, setting the table for Tanner Salcido. A 2 rbi single by the Alliance catcher sliced the Spartan deficit to 3 at 7 to 4. Miguel Galvan then walked to give the Navy squad hope but Chadron was able to get the last out.
