Game 2 of their a doubleheader Monday saw the Alliance Prep team grab their second win on the year with a 10 to 4 victory over Gering. The game was played in Gering. Alliance dropped the opener but a 6 run third inning powered the Peltz Co to the win in game 2. The Spartans were held to just 4 hits but 12 walks and 3 errors by the hosts helped the guests get the W. Pitching for Alliance were starter Logan Freiberger and relief hurler Cisco Cody. The contest was a five inning matchup.
Two first inning knocks by Freiberger and Quinn Ferguson set the table for the Spartans. An RBI groundout by Esai Trejo resulted in the Spartan’s first score. Gering failed to score in their first attempt and the game went inning 2 with the Peltz Co up 1 to 0. No runs were scored in the second. Inning #3 was big for the Spartans. The prep team would score 6 times to go up 7 to 0. Walks to Silas Lilley-Stone, Ferguson, and Freiberger loaded the sacks for Trejo. The Spartan first baseman singled to drive in 2. A two run error by Gering ensued as the Alliance lead grew to 5 to 0. The frame came to a conclusion with 2 passed balls by Gering and the Spartans enjoying a 7 to 0 lead. The hosts came back strong in the bottom of the third with 3 runs thanks a triple and an RBI groundout. Both teams didn’t score in the fourth.
Alliance put the contest away in their final at bat in the fifth. The Peltz Co pushed three across to go ahead 10 to 3. Walks to Roy Torres and Galles began the scoring. An RBI single by Lilley-Stone made the score 8 to 3 and a pair of miscues by the hosts gave the Spartans a 10 to 3 margin. The game ended with a Gering score and a double play turned by the guests.
