On Saturday, the Peltz Co prep team hit the road to North Platte for a pair of games in legion baseball action. The Spartans ran into a buzz saw in the form of the Nebraska Platinum 14 U in their opener. A squad from Omaha, Platinum scored 10 runs in the first inning and added 12 more in the second to go on for a 22 to 0 win in a game ended after 3 innings of play. Pitching for the Spartans were starter Logan Freiberger and relievers Roy Torres and Dixon Bair. The Peltz Co was held to just one hit by Bair in three innings.
A one out hit by Bair in the first gave Alliance a chance but the Spartan was stranded on the base paths. In the bottom of the frame, walks and errors would plague the Spartans. Platinum plated 10 runs in their try, using a combinations of walks, errors, and hits to take a commanding lead Inning #2 had Alliance going 1-2-3 while the Omaha club increased their advantage with 12 more tallies. Seven big hits were the key and after 2 innings of play, Alliance trailed 22 to 0. Alliance went scoreless in the top of the third and the game ended with Platinum on top 22 to 0.
