Day 2 of the Alliance Prep Legion Baseball Tournament saw the Peltz Co Spartans get back into the win column with victories over Gering and Sidney. On Saturday the Spartans picked up shutout wins of 8 to 0 and 13 to 0.
Against Gering, the Spartans got a complete game victory from Kyler Hamel to down the guests 8 to 0. Hamel allowed only 3 hits and record 6 Ks. The Spartans drew first blood in the first inning. A walk from Carsen Bunnell was followed by a single by Xander Narjes.
Smiley Valdovinos was next and his groundout plated Bunnel for the contest’s first score. No more runs were scored until the top of the third when Alliance tallied 5. Narjes led off with a hit. Hamel walked and Valdovinos was hit by a pitch to load the bases. A single by Reese Muhr ensued that put the Peltz Co up 2 to 0.
Preston Flores was hit by a pitch as the Spartans lead grew to 3 to 0. The frame closed with Valdovinos stealing home and a 2 run double by Tyler Adams. Alliance increased their margin in the fourth with hits by Valdovinos and Cooper Gallas.
A sacrifice fly by Adams ended the scoring with Alliance ahead 8 to 0. Two strikeouts by Hamal denied Gering any runs in the fourth to keep the guests down by 8. No runs were scored in the fifth as the Peltz Co went on for the 8 to 0 win.

In a three-inning contest later in the day Alliance got a no hitter from Fletcher Moseman to down Sidney 13 to 0. The Spartans used 8 hits, 7 walks, and 5 Sidney errors to post the win. The Peltz Co wasted no time, scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the first. Hits from Jay Shelmadine, Israel Garcia, and Miguel Galvan helped Alliance score 3 times in their frame. Moseman would record two strikeouts in the second, keeping Sidney off the board. Three more Spartan runs doubled the Alliance lead in the second.
Walks, Sidney errors, wild pitches, and a single by Galvan pushed the Alliance lead to 6 to 0. The contest closed in the third as the Spartans scored 7 runs. Hits by Jackson Devlin and Jaden Garcia were the key moments in the inning.
