Game 2 of a four game weekend series in North Platte continued for the Peltz Co Prep with a Saturday matchup with the Nebraska Legends. The Spartans fell behind early but rallied to make things interesting late. And when the smoke cleared, it was the Legends from North Platte winning the contest 7 to 3. Down 7 to 0 in the fourth, Alliance scored 3 in the home half of the inning to get within striking distance. The Spartans unfortunately went scoreless in their final attempts and dropped their second game on the weekend. Esai Trejo started the game for the preps and went 3 inning, giving up 4 hits while striking out 1. Also taking the mound for the Spartans was Kylar Adams who yielded just one hit. Left fielder Dixon Bair led the Alliance offense with a double.
Three Legend hits in the opening frame gave North Platte the early momentum. In all, NP scored 3 runs to surge ahead. Bair doubled in the bottom of the inning for the Spartans but was left on the base paths. The Legends added a tally in the top of the second, using an Alliance error and passed ball to go up 4 to 0. Meanwhile, the bats went quiet for the Peltz Co in the second and the contest went to the third with Alliance down 4 to 0. Trejo set down the Legends in the top of the third but the Spartans also went scoreless in their at bat.
Inning #4 had both teams getting on the board. North Platte added to their advantage by scoring 3 more runs. The Legends used a Alliance miscue, a hit by batter, and a double to go up 5 to 0. The inning ended with 2 RBI ground outs as the Spartans fell behind 7 to 0. Alliance responded with their best effort in the home half of the fourth. Three walks and a passed ball by the Legends made the score 7 to 1. An RBI walk by Adams pulled the Spartans to 7 to 2. Alliance then got an RBI ground out by Sonny Hernandez to make the tally 7 to 3 heading to the fifth.
Adams had a scoreless top of the fifth pitching for Alliance while the Preps also failed to score in the bottom of the inning. In the final frame, both teams would not score and the game ended with the Nebraska Legends getting the victory 7 to 3.
