The BBGH Board of Trustees’ meeting was called to order at 12:02 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, via Zoom.
Discussions involved the progress of the Hemingford Clinic, appointment of 2020-2022 Medical Staff Officers, BBGH & BBHF Scholarship recipients, and Phase II Recovery of elective surgeries. The finance report and credentialing requests were approved.
Jim Bargen, BBGH COO provided visual images of the construction progress for the Hemingford Clinic.
Having an anticipated completion by August, the building is moving along smoothly. The basement structure is complete along with the floor of the clinic being finished. The team is making great progress toward the completion each day.
The officers for the 2020-2022 Medical Staff board were voted on and they are: Chief of Staff, Dr. Timothy Narjes, Vice Chief of Staff, Dr. Terri Myers, Secretary, Dr. Jessica Ott.

During the Quality Management and Safety report, Mary Mockerman, BBGH Chief Quality Officer reported on COVID-19 for infection prevention and control. Testing remains a top priority through assistance with the Nebraska Public Health Lab, Abbott Rapid Testing capability, and through the state’s TestNebraska initiative. The second priority is continued surveillance on the receipt and usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inventory as services return. Staff education remains a key element in our response to the COVID-19 for proper PPE use, cleaning and disinfection COVID-designated patient care rooms, new equipment, employee symptom tracking and reporting, and ongoing Directed Health Measure changes. Finally, priorities to monitor other seasonal infectious disease with tick-borne illness and West Nile being prominent in summer months, then planning for influenza season starting in September.
BBGH is phasing into the next stage of elective surgeries and specialty clinics resuming services. What this means is adding total joint replacement surgeries along with select general surgeries. The Michael F. Essay, Sr. Specialty Clinic has reopened as well as the Hemingford Clinic and Hyannis Clinic.
New BBGH employees include: Jewelia Taylor, Nursing Assistant, Trevor Ridenour, Nursing Assistant, Megan Hickman, Nursing Assistant. Recent staff recognitions include: Employee of the Month Mary Mockerman, CQO.
The Board of Trustees will host a budget workshop on Monday, June 22 at noon in the Alliance Room.
The next BBGH regular board meeting is Monday, June 29 at noon in the Alliance Room. In interest of the Directed Health Measure issued for Box Butte County, the public is welcome to attend via Zoom.
