On Saturday, the Alliance Navy club traveled to Chadron to battle the Kings of Rapid City. The Spartans could muster only 4 hits and fell to Rapid 7 to 2. A three run fourth inning and a 4 score seventh frame helped the Kings get the win. Israel Garcia started the contest and went 6 innings, striking out 10. Jayden Garcia got the last 3 outs for the Peltz Co.
Rapid batted first and went down with no scores. In the bottom of the opener, the Spartans also failed to score. Garcia had another shutout frame in the second while the Navy club went down quietly. Two strikeouts by Garcia kept the game scoreless in the top of the third. An RBI knock by Carson Stull in the home half gave the Peltz Co an early 1 to 0 margin. Without a hit, the Kings tallied 3 runs in the top of inning 4 to surge ahead. Rapid used three errors by Alliance, a walk, a passed ball, and an RBI groundout to take a 3 to 1 lead. The Spartan bats were again silenced in the bottom of the inning. Heading to the fifth, the Navy team was down 3 to 1.
Innings 5 and 6 saw both team’s offenses continue to struggle with no runs scored. Garcia tallied 2 k’s in the top of the 6th. Any hopes of an Alliance comeback were ruined in the top of the final frame as the Kings scored 4 times. A pair of 2 run doubles by Rapid made it a 7 to 1 ball game. Three hits by the Peltz Co in the final turn added to one last tally. Hits came from-Logan Freiberger, Garcia, and Jackson Smith. Final Rapid City 7 Alliance 2
