There are many elements that determine what our weather is going to be like on a day-to-day basis, but one of the more important elements, one that we couldn’t live without, is the sun. Not only is the sun responsible for warming us up after a long, cold winter, but it’s responsible for many more things. The sun and its heating of the earth causes air to be lifted up from the surface and on the other end of it when the sun goes down, things cool off.
Now this is a very simplistic way of putting things but this process is the basic way that wind gets started up. The sun also plays a role in evaporation, which is one of the ways moisture gets up into the sky. With this process we get the formation of clouds, fog, haze, and it also gets our humidity levels up, which can be unbearable in the summer!
Some say the sun can also alter the earth’s climate. Research has been done that shows during sunspot activity on the sun, the earth underwent a change in weather patterns that included cold than normal temperatures and harsh winters.
Whether this was a coincidence or not, only time will tell since sunspot activity happens in eleven year cycles.

Forecast discussion for the week ahead:
A big area of high pressure is going to be our weather maker the next several days and that’s going to do a few things for us. It will bring in plenty of sunshine for the rest of the week and into he weekend. It will also bring with it a gusty south wind. However, with all that sunshine and gusty south wind, we’ll see temperatures above average!
