Family, friends, and great communities led Alan Ouderkirk to grow his roots in the Nebraska Panhandle. He is now the new IT Senior Workstation Support Associate for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Panhandle Research Extension and Education Center (PREEC) in Scottsbluff.
He attended Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC) in Scottsbluff, where he earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Information Technology in May of 2021. “My focus is to help the people I assist with their technical needs,” Ouderkirk said.
While Ouderkirk is stationed at PREEC, he supports the 15 counties of the Nebraska Extension Zone 1. To support the extension offices, he will travel to them for computer updates and to drop off computers. He will also troubleshoot and assist with issues by phone. “I like to use my skills to benefit my clients by giving them the best technical support they deserve and making sure everyone is taken care of,” he said.
When Ouderkirk is not in the office or traveling for work, he’ll be enjoying golf or going to the lake with his friends and family, which includes his twin brother, Adam, who also works in IT. When fall rolls around, he’ll be watching his favorite sport, football. “Go Huskers! I also enjoy trying new foods or places to eat,” he said.
