Accounting & Finance:

Museum:
• Training was held in the theater every day this week.
• Worked in the basement to sort and archive donations.
• Collecting artifacts for the assembly of exhibits in the basement.
• Started making plans to host the NE Museum Association conference in April of 2025.
• Assisted four individuals with research in the Heritage Room.
Library:
• Things have been moving along at the library with new book clubs, a new contest, and lots of new titles at the Alliance Public Library!
• Technical Services Librarian Emily Nelson updated the website calendar with upcoming programming information, updated the social media pages, and assisted patrons with computer questions. She also worked on the updated Staff Picks page and made weekly Bookmobile deliveries.
• Adult Services Librarian Nalani Stewart changed out the Blind Date with a Book Display for “Plot Twists Ahead”. She also hosted Monday Night Mystery Book Club, True Crime Book Club, Highland Park book club, and the Art A La Carte Craft Club, and continued working on the “Book Nook” displays for the New Fiction shelves, and hosted the book club at the Highland Park Care Center.
• Children’s Librarian Cynthia Horn hosted a Valentine Sparkle Story Time with guest reader, Earlynn Lawrence, wrote thank you notes to Keep Alliance Beautiful and Webb Eyecare for their contributions to the Valentine Box event, and delivered Valentines to Highland Park Care Center. She also organized the book mobile deliveries, cataloged new items, put together new book displays, and worked on crafts for upcoming story times.
• Library Clerks Pam Becker and Stephanie Hamilton have been busy processing new titles and assisting with contest preparations.
Parks:
• Completed snow removal multiple times as necessary. Removed snow piles from parking lots and other areas to make room for more snow.
• Washed and detailed trucks. Repaired snow equipment as necessary.
• Prepared for two funerals.
• Assisted the Senior Center with meal delivery.
RSVP & Senior Center:
• Continued providing dine-in and delivery meals for the community.
• RSVP had 19 volunteers working in the community this week.
Fire:
• Provided space to Action Communications to install new radios in Box Butte County Sheriff’s Office vehicles.
• Chief completed a Peer Assessment phone interview with the Center of Public Safety Excellence.
• Chief had a zoom meeting with Quick Med Claims reference EMS billing.
• Staff participated in “Critical Thinking – What Does It Mean?” Web training.
• Two staff members participated in Fraud Training for First-line Supervisors.
• Monthly department-wide meeting was held.
• Work continuing on upper bathroom remodel.
Chamber:
• Lots of discussions going on, events being planned and suggestions being taken.
• Easter Egg Hunt will be happening in March this year (*weather permitted). We hope to have more events this Spring.
• The Heritage Days Committee met and started planning for this summer’s Carnival. We are looking at themes for this year’s event. Please email the Chamber Director with any suggestions.
Water/Sewer:
• Weekly water samples and airport samples.
• Started 200AMP upgrade for lift station C generator.
• Rebuilt Chlorine pump at Elkhorn Well.
• Installed new chlorine piping at Burnham Well.
• Met with Core and Main about drive-by reads.
• Installed 4 radios.
• 9 utility work orders.
• 12 locates.
• Snow removal.
Streets:
• Prepared snow equipment.
• Snow removal.
Transit:
• 872 riders.
Landfill:
• 127 customers. 203.81 tons.
• Moved bales.
• Ran burn box.
• Ongoing baler repairs.
• Equipment maintenance.
HR:
• Conducted Police Department written exams, participated in Civil Service Commission meeting and Police Review Board Interviews for Police Officer, Police Sergeant, and Police Chief candidates.
• Assisting new hires in completing pre-employment conditions.
• Completed the annual Federal Drug and Alcohol Testing audit for FTA program.
• Scheduling interviews for open positions.
Electric:
• Making progress on the CR 58 south of Highway 2 three-phase rebuild project.
• All staff attended the monthly NECC safety meeting.
• Set a new service pole for electrical upgrade at sewer lift station C.
• Thursday afternoon personnel observed a broken insulator on Kansas street 34.5KV overhead line, switching was performed to de-energize line and insulator was replaced.
• Thursday evening had a small outage on east 10th street, weather related cause.
• Moved snow at Warehouse and substations as needed.
Administration:
• Conducted interviews for Police Chief. David Leavitt has been selected as the City’s new Police Chief.
• Addressed multiple personnel matters.
• Reviewed potential police station layouts.
• Prepared for next week’s Council Meeting.
• Met with various department heads.
• Provided fraud prevention training to staff.
