* New Employee Announcement! Welcome Quinton Walker as a new Electric Lineman Apprentice. Quinton has lived in Alliance since 1992. He graduated from Alliance High School and then from WNCC. He has been in this field for three years, and previously worked as an Instructor at WNCC. He is married, and expecting his first child in March.
Police Administration:
* Retrieved three newly-purchased (used) patrol cars from Torrington.
Police Communications:
* Coordinated 535 calls for service.
* Completed 4 report requests.
* 2 firearms permits issued.
Police Operations:
* 1 DUI.
* 7 accidents, 1 K9 deployment.
* Male fired a shotgun in the air at Sunset motel. Nobody was hurt. He was transported to BBGH and ultimately to Kearney. Officers were assigned to him for a total of 34 hours from start to finish of the call.
Animal Control:
* 19 Animal Calls.
* 2 Dogs impounded and returned.
* 3 Code Enforcement issues.
Public Works:
* Lift station “A” final electrical underway.
* Public Works building final punch list underway.
* Landfill conveyor replacement underway.
* Water 185 radios installed to date. 627 million gallons of water produced in 2021.
* Transit 702 Riders this week.
* Landfill 273 tons, 144 customers this week.

* Participating in a Continuing Education course on Strategic Planning this week and next.

* Helping organize Career Day for 5th Graders at Grandview Elementary – May 5th.
* Four contacts-prospect assistance related to real estate and funding.
* Continuing conversations with UNL Place making project: ongoing.

Electric:
* Started a new three phase rebuild project on Rock Road and CR 53.
* Continuing the rebuild CR 63 South of Otoe Road.
* Installing the main feed lines for the internet and phone system into the new Public Works building.
* Energized and installed a meter in a Schiff feedlot cattle water well.
* Updated the warning/danger signs on all four substations.
* Continue to perform maintenance on the rural and urban system as time allows.
Fire:
* Chief participated in a webinar training for Telecommunicators as a member of the State’s 911 Service System Advisory Committee.
* Fire Chief Shoemaker invited to attend the “National Fire Service Staff and Command Course” in Maryland, March 2022.
Library:
* Weather got you down? Escape to warmer climes through the pages of a good book!
* We are already in the planning stages of Summer Reading. We have been adding Valentine gifts to the bookstore.
* Alliance will be hosting this year’s planning meeting for the Western Library System!
* Changes are being made to our online catalog to make it more user-friendly for our patrons. So far we have had very positive feedback.
* Nalani Stewart has completed her first week in her new role as Technical Services Librarian. She has already proven to be a great fit for this position and we are excited to see what ideas she has in store for the library!
* The Star Wars and Non-fiction reading contests are continuing on. We plan on having more reading contest throughout the Spring, so keep watching!
Pool:
* Registered for Red Cross swimming lessons for the 2022 season. Started chemical order lists and assembling contact lists of staff that may be returning. Started research on uniform and equipment availability.
Carhenge:
* Inventory for the 2022 tourist season is arriving.
* Staff is also sending multiple on line merchandise orders out weekly.
* Social Media photo contest on Facebook through January 31st.
RSVP/Senior Center:
* Started working on plans for the volunteer recognition dinner.
* Contacted suppliers and contractors for kitchen improvements.
* Working on plans and public information for the implementation of the Martin Luther King Jr. food drive.
* Working on plans for the Valentine dinner at the Senior Center.
* Continue to provide dine-in and delivery meals.
Parks:
* Updating the shelter house which includes scraping the ceiling and painting the interior.
* Met with contractors about the fencing around the tennis courts.
* Repairs started on the backstop at the softball complex.
* Worked on snow equipment after removal so that they are ready for the next storm.
* Assembled mower purchase information for Council consideration.
* Two funerals this week.
Museum:
* Started getting exhibits out for Valentine’s day.
* Got the final Christmas decorations down and moved to the basement and into storage.
* Hosted an NRD public meeting.
