Reflections for the Week of July 11-15

Fire:

• Fire safety walk-through of the carnival and food vendors for Heritage Days.

• Zoom meeting with FlowMSP. Zoom meeting with ESO Fire/EMS Reporting Platform.

• Submitted documents to the ISO prior to the site visit on Tuesday July 19th to review our “Public Protection Classification”.

• Chief participated in a fire sprinkler inspection of the Alliance Berean Church with the Deputy State Fire Marshal.

Police Admin:

• Central Square. Datalytics Meeting. South Central 911.5ire Project Meeting.IACP Meeting.

• Quadrant 2 Meeting and deployment. Working on bugs.

• Trusted Driver Meetings.

• Know Your Force Data Push meeting and now operable.

Police Communications/Intelligence:

• Coordinated 627 calls for service.

• Completed 6 report requests.

• 2 firearms permit issued.

Police Operations:

• 4 Child Welfare Investigations.

• 1 DUI, 18 Traffic Stops.

• 4 accidents.

• 0 K9 deployments.

• 143 Building Checks.

• 29 Community Contacts/Business Checks.

• 25 Vacation House Checks.

• 18 Active Investigations.

Animal Control:

• 26 Animal Calls.

• 4 Dog Impounds. 0 dogs currently in the shelter.

• 0 Cat Impounds. 2 cats currently in the shelter.

Code Enforcement:

• 25 Code enforcement issues.

Notable Service:

• Preparing for and working Heritage Days.

• Laing Neighborhood Meeting is July 20th.

Electric:

• Progressing on the alley rebuild, 14th to 16th street west of High School.

• Performing irrigation load control.

• Corrected a couple electrical issues downtown for the Heritage Days vendors.

• Performed repair/trouble shooting on a few irrigation wells.

• Reviewing plans and specifications for a rebuild project on Kansas Street and north to East 3rd Street.

Knight Museum:

• Sorted through an extensive Christmas collection donation.

• Prepared materials for the Class of ‘57 for this weekend.

• Started and trained a new volunteer in the Heritage Room who will help with records collection and sorting.

• Helped with the Family Night in Central Park

Library:

• The library staff has been busy weeding the non-fiction collection. Watch for new and updated resources coming in through the support of the Alliance Public Library Foundation!

• The Wonka Bar wristband contest ended this week with six children winning wristbands for Heritage Days!

• We are busy creating a “Stranger Things” display in the library featuring a scary Demigorgon and a selection of books the characters would most likely be caught reading.

• It seems early, but we will be working on Back to School displays and events for the library. We have an exciting fall planned that we are looking forward to sharing with our patrons!

Senior and Center RSVP:

• Accepted a large donation of various vegetables to be used in the senior center.

• Hosted a Heritage Days BBQ in the parking lot of the Senior Center.

• Accepted donations from the Marion Residence to be given to area seniors as needed.

Parks/Cemetery:

• Mowed and trimmed the disc golf course for the weekend tournament.

• Set up picnic tables downtown and cleaned them daily for Heritage Days.

• Mowed and trimmed the parks for Heritage Days activities.

• Cleaned up the creek at Central Park from 10th St. to the bridge.

• Mowed and trimmed Softball complex for tournament.

• Prepared for 3 funerals this week.

• Sprayed for weeds in the parks from Laing Lake to Central Park. Vacuumed grass clippings from

Laing Lake to Central Park.

• Took picnic tables and roll outs to the softball complex for the tournament.

• Picked up stock tanks for “Sunday in the Park.”

Tourism:

• Worked with CGI Digital to capture events and attractions for Alliance promotional video for website.

Airport:

• Maintenance staff continues painting the airfield. We are close to halfway done, but are now waiting to acquire more paint which is difficult to find due to supply chain delays.

• Thank you to the police department for taking the time to provide firearm safety to staff.

• Haying operations are taking place on the airfield and will likely continue into August.

• TSA annual inspection was completed successfully.

BBDC:

• Rural Fellows and I met with Dr. Fagen and her team from UNL Monday, as she made rounds to the communities out west here hosting Rural Fellow Interns.

• Held Perfect Blend in Hemingford Tuesday at Nebraska Bank.

• Organized an investment club meeting in Hemingford Wednesday night.

• Recorded the Economic Development portion of the new City CGI Digital video.

• Participated in Rural Rendezvous monthly Zoom meeting.
