Reflections for the Week of March 28-April 1

Fire:

• Participated in the Bike Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN) planning meeting.

• Staff participated in Front Line Supervisor Training.

• Implementing “FlowMSP” Pre-Incident Fire Planning program and software.

Community Development:

• No Board of Adjustment meeting held in March.

• The phone system at the Knight Museum went down last Thursday and part of Friday. Service

has been restored by patching in a loaner system. We are working on a permanent solution.

• Runza – Kitchen equipment is being installed and HVAC work is under way.

• Berean Church – Started constructing the steel roof.

• Platte Valley Bank – Interior wall framing is finished. They are working on the front windows

and above grade plumbing.

• Nutrien Ag had their grand opening 3/24.

• Yesway is doing a minor interior remodel of coolers and some display shelving.

Police Admin:

• Meeting with 5ire to implement interface for online reporting and report requests.

• SRS (State Radio System) Meeting.

• Lumen 911 System meetings.

• Fleetio Presentation.

Police Communications/Intelligence:

• Coordinated 576 calls for service.

• Completed 4 report requests.

• 0 firearms permits issued.

Police Operations:

• 5 Child Welfare Investigations.

• 1 DUI, 15 Traffic Stops.

• 0 K9 deployments.

• 149 Building Checks.

Animal Control:

• 18 Animal Calls.

Code Enforcement:

• 59 Code enforcement issues addressed.

Public Works:

• Drainage repair work completed at dog park.

• Annual jetting has begun.

• 272 Water remotes.

• 684 Transit riders this week.

• 223 tons of refuse at Landfill this week.

• City overlay projects saw cutting underway, milling work anticipated for end of April.

• ADA removal and replacement on Flack Ave. State to begin work next week.

• 3rd St. construction schedule expected in nest week.

HR:

• New Employee Announcement. Welcome Emma Reinhard as a new Public Safety Dispatcher! Emma is from Hastings, NE and has lived in Alliance since the beginning of March. She graduated from Adams Central High School. She is looking forward to being a Dispatcher, because she wants to help the public through any trying times they may have.

• New Employee Announcement. Welcome Parker Dahlbert as a new Public Safety Dispatcher! Parker is from Alliance, and has been working as a dispatcher for 2 years. In his free time, he enjoys sports, hiking and working out. Working as a dispatcher for the City is helping him progress in his career, as he plans to become a law enforcement officer.

• We are now accepting applications for Part-Time Museum Clerk, Part-Time Account Clerk, Fire Apparatus Engineer, Public Transit Driver, Police Officer, Finance Director, and Seasonal positions.

• HR continues to work on wage and salary survey

• Held Interviews with Police Review Board and Civil Service Commission to create an eligibility list for the position of Police Officer; Completed new Testing for Police Officer Candidates.

• Presented findings of employee feedback on Public-Sector Motivation to Supervisors across the organization

• Ongoing processing and management of benefits enrollment and FMLA requests

Library:

• The staff has been installing some stained glass window film on the east side of the building to help with sun glare issues.

• We have begun “Find Little Blue Peep” for children who visit the library. Find the Peep stuffed animal and bring it to the desk for a prize!

• The staff has been getting ready for the crafting sessions for the Storytime parents. The first ones will be April 12th and 14th and will involve making macramé plant holders.

• The Jeff Barnes program on the Modisett Baseball Park will be held Thursday, April 7th at 6:30 PM. We will have “Ball Park” refreshments beginning at 6PM, so plan on coming out early!

• There have been some Easter gift items added to the display case in the hallway – Come check them out!

Parks:

• Cleaned out several storage buildings and moved items in preparation for demolition.

• Continued cleaning and painting in the pool bathhouse.

• Coordinated with contractors and suppliers for delivery of tennis court lights on April 13th.

• Ordered infield mix for ballfield maintenance.

• Got estimates for fencing at multiple locations.

Golf:

• Started irrigation and let carts out.

• Got seasonal staff started.

Pool:

• Conducted interviews for seasonal positions.

• Finalized swim lesson schedules and posted additional advertisements for managers and swim

instructors.

• Gathered information for uniform and equipment orders.

Museum:

• Hosted the Alliance Public Schools auction in the gallery this week.

• Accepted several large donations from local citizens.

• Worked with Park staff to relocate museum items from storage sheds.

Chamber:

• Attended the BRAN planning meeting.

• Attended the NE Chamber Foundation Workforce & Economic Dashboard Report.

• Alliance Chamber Ambassadors presented Alliance Public Schools with the Spotlight Business

banner.

• Alliance Chamber Ambassadors held a ribbon cutting for the DOVEs Program.

• Held Leadership Box Butte planning meeting.

• Community tour for BBGH.
