Airport:
• We are still waiting on a decision from the Department of Transportation concerning airline selection. All documents have been submitted to the final decision makers at the DOT and we have participated in multiple phone conference calls with our consultants and the DOT in an attempt to speed up the process.
• Completed the quote process and selected contractors for the FBO drain replacement and the FBO window replacement capital projects.
• Budget work is underway with reviewing of 10 year capital plan.
• Preliminary work for the FAA inspection in early May is in full swing. Special inspections of the airfield, training records review, and reviewing of certification manual and emergency plan is part of this work.
• A prescribed burn is scheduled for April 12th, weather permitting. The notifications to surrounding land owners and users of the airport have started. A press release will go out early next week as well. The area of the burn will be the land leased to Nebraska Game & Parks and is east of the golf course and rodeo grounds.
• Maintenance staff spread out some old hay bales in preparation of the prescribed burn.
• Filling of prairie dog holes on all airport property is a staff priority. This is a huge project and will require many hours, but is essential to monitor population control efforts.
• Maintenance staff replaced springs on shop garage door.
• Wayne conducted movement training for the airfield with FAA personnel and airport staff.
• Replaced hoses on airport maintenance fuel tanks.
• Warehouse roads were dragged.
• Staff participated in monthly ARFF training.
Streets:

• Moved furniture out of front reception area of Utility Facility in preparation for next week’s flooring installation
Parks:
• Met with the tree trimming contractor and made a list for trimming and removal.
• Turned on the water to all public restrooms in preparation for summer
• Opened the Central Park and 3rd and Box Butte restrooms for the season.
• Assisted the museum setting up for their Museum conference.
• Removed snow brooms and took mowers to the cemetery.
• Met with the irrigation contractor about the install at BN Ballfield.
• Repaired a sensor on the JD Gator.
• Started plumbing reassembly at the swimming pool.
• Conducted interviews for the open full-time position.
Library:
• Spring titles are rolling in with something new for everyone! We have seen an uptick in patrons who have not visited us for years coming back into the library to enjoy our services once again. Traffic has been high this week, with that trend expected to continue the closer we get to summer reading. The theme this year will be “Under the Alliance Night Sky” in conjunction with Heritage Days 2025. We are excited to launch our first year of running a local program instead of the national one with hopes of tying our efforts in closer with our community and all the great things happening here.
• Adult Services Librarian Nalani Stewart cataloged new materials, changed out the displays in Non-fiction and Fiction for Spring, and hosted the book club at the Highland Park Care Center and Highland Park Assisted Living. She also prepared the stats for the Director’s report and removed old books from the new shelves.
• Technical Services Librarian Emily Nelson compiled statistics for the March Director’s report, updated the website and social media sites with upcoming April programming information, and processed the Interlibrary Loans for patrons and book clubs. She also assisted patrons and made weekly Book Mobile deliveries.
• Children’s Librarian Cynthia Horn held Story Time A to Z featuring Victorious V and paper volcanoes. LEGO Club worked on their creations. Cynthia also organized Book Mobile items and compiled monthly stats. Her ongoing projects include updating book displays, cataloging new items, backpacks and preparations for upcoming events, and the search for Little Blue Peep continues through Easter!
• Library Clerks Stephanie Hamilton and Pam Becker have begun working on preparing summer reading materials and pricing many items for the bookstore.
RSVP & Senior Center:
• Continues serving in-house and delivery meals for area seniors
• In the month of March we provided just over 1,100 meals to area seniors. The Youth Volunteer Alliance contributed 89 volunteer hours in March Hosted bingo, coffee and treats, and bunco
• Beltone was in the building meeting with customers
• A big “Thank you!” to the Eagles for their contribution to the Youth Volunteer Alliance.
Museum:
• The State Museum Association Conference starts on April 6th at the Knight Museum & Sandhills Center.
• Cleaned and dusted the exhibits in the main gallery.
• Finished the final install of new exhibits the basement display cases
• Finalized catering plans and set up the hospitality room for the conference
• Set up tables and presentation spaces for the museum conference
Golf Course:
• Coordinated with the Upper Niobrara NRD regarding the install of a shelter belt at the golf course
• Inventory is arriving quickly and being put out in the pro shop
• Play continues to be strong when the weather cooperates… but this wasn’t a good golf weather week.
• The course appears to be in great shape and staff expects a quick green up once the weather warms up.
Pool:
• Ordered necessary testing chemicals for water quality maintenance
• Placed the order for bulk chemical delivery so that we are ready to fill in early May
• Conducted interviews with approximately twenty candidates for seasonal pool positions
• Printed and delivered swim lesson reminder cards to go home with students
• Scheduled Swim Lesson registration for April 12th at the Knight Museum. Registration starts at 8:00am
