Personnel:
• New Employee Announcement! Welcome McKenzie Robinson as a new Public Safety Dispatcher. McKenzie is from Orlando, FL and moved to Alliance in January 2022. She previously worked as a waitress and CNA. She loves traveling and being a “dog mom” to her sheepadoodle.
• The City continues to accept applications for Finance Director, Airport Maintenance Worker, Public Transit Driver, Journey Line Worker, Fire Apparatus Engineer/EMT, Police Officer, Public Safety Dispatcher.
• The Department has started advertising for Summer positions.
• Interviews were conducted for Account Clerk, Street Maintenance, Water and Sewer Maintenance Worker, and Public Safety Dispatcher.
• HR presented Department Heads a training on public-sector motivation based on an employee survey.
• HR is also preparing for an annual plan review of the employee’s retirement plan in April.
• Managed benefit enrollment, FMLA requests, and work-related injuries.
Golf:
• Inventory is arriving for the shop on a daily basis.
• Have sold some early memberships and have had some cart storage paid for 2022.
Library:
• We have cleared out the back room and have organized many of our materials for crafts and story time!
• Adult Services Librarian Emily Nelson will be hosting the NE Humanities presentation of “Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History” featuring Deb Carpenter-Nolting and Lyn Messersmith. This will be held Friday, March 11 in the Community Rooms.
• Children’s Librarian Cynthia Horn continued with more Cat in the Hat visits to local schools this week.
• Technical Services Librarian Nalani Stewart held two sessions of tech tutoring this week in conjunction with the Alliance High School Tech Change makers and WNCC. The first session was held in the WNCC computer lab and the second was held at the Alliance Senior Center. We are looking forward to holding more partnership sessions in an effort to expand the technology skills of the community!
Parks:
• Installed the new stove and toilet in the shelter house.
• Finished moving all of our equipment and supplies that we use on a regular basis into the new shop.
• Moved all the Park Supervisor office equipment to the new shop.
• Moved all old machinery out of the Sallows shop.
• Moved the machinery for Purple Wave to the old fleet shop to be closer for pickup.
• Moved fertilize, grass seed, and streets patch compound to the old block shop for storage.
• Snow removal on Wednesday and we are in the process of repairing a broom that broke doing that.
• Started getting seasonal staffing lists together for the 2022 season.
Pool:
• Finalized swim lesson schedule for 2022. We are still short instructors so we are advertising for those positions.
• Printed Updated swim records for use during registration.
• Started getting staffing lists assembled for the 2022 swim season.
RSVP:
• Finalized preparations for the recognition dinner on March 12th.
• Prepared and served eat in and delivery meals for local seniors.
• Completed necessary state paperwork regarding inventory and ordering.
Public Works:
• Water Crews worked on a main break on Boyd Ave.
• Landfill 191 tons of refuse this week.
• Transit 596 Riders this week.
• Street Crews worked on snow removal this week.
• Meadows Trailer Court has all remote meters installed.
Administration:
• Approximately 402 COVID-19 Testing kits out of 720 kits have been distributed.
• www.cityofalliance.net, www.visitalliance.com, and www.carhenge.com are all ADA compliant.
Police Admin:
• Sponsored and Attended FBI, DEA, Attorney General and US Attorney “Life or Meth” Forum.
• Coordinating hiring of dispatchers and officers.

• Cybersecurity Meetings.
Police Communications/Intelligence:
• Coordinated 518 calls for service.
• Completed 6 report requests.

Animal Control:

Electric:
• Started a three phase rebuild project on CR 62 and Otoe Rd.
• Currently having our trucks dielectric and safety tested as required yearly.
• Installed shelving and arranged numerous items in the warehouse.
• Continue to perform streetlight replacement and maintenance.
• Continue various maintenance items on the rural and urban system.
Community Development:
• March 8 Planning Commission approved a Conditional Use Permit for an “apartment hotel” on the lot between the Holiday Inn and US 385.
• Staff attended ICC Permit Technician training this week.
