Notable Service:

• Satisfaction rating 90.2%.

• Overall crime is down 31.3% YTD.

• Special recognition to Jess Kaye for the extra work on the state NLETC Audit. Also all of the patrol officers for making several schedule adjustments.

Electric:

• The lightning with the storms on Saturday night and Sunday caused numerous issues: an outage in the Grand- Potash area; two poles received severe damage-one on east 3rd and one south of the Landfill; several damaged streetlights on east 3rd had to be replaced.

• We replaced two poles in front of Carters that tested bad, one in front of El Ramo as well.

• On Monday, a squirrel caused an outage in the east 14th, Yellowstone-Duncan area.

• Energized a new meter rack installation on the J-row of Meadows.

• Energized a new service on west 2nd street for a storage building.

• Worked with Great Plains Power on completion of east rebuild project.

• Replaced a faulty transformer basement at West Plains Grain.

• Poured cement for outside yard storage area.

• Replaced damaged secondary pole on CR 63. Replaced damaged pole on east 3rd street.

Streets:

• Completed painting of roadway striping.

• Fixed alleys. Fixed bricks on 3rd Street.

• Performed utility locates.

• Graded E 8th, 9th, and Elkhorn.

• Assisted with water main break.

• Helped Electric with cement pad.

Transit:

• 627 riders.

Water/Sewer:

• Dug up water main at Golf Course. Replaced leak and installed new curb stop.

• Hydro excavated and replaced two road boxes for road project.

• Fixed broken chlorine injector at 18th & Colorado.

• Loaded 10 manhole rings and covers for street project.

• Worked on D station APU for power outage.

• Worked on Water truck PTO not engaging.

• Water main break at 1st and Box Butte. Repaired pipe with 5ft of C900 and 2 repair clamps. Backfilled and packed hole in the street.

• Cleaned up all equipment used on main breaks.

• 20 locates.

• 15 utility office work orders.

• Weekly water samples.

• Chlorine residuals.

Landfill:

• 212 Customers.

• 346.5 tons.

• Moved bales.

• Front gate repair.

• Last week for pallets.

• Equipment maintenance.

• Computer software update.

• Truck repairs.

• Smoothed compost pile.

• Expanded dirt stockpile area.

Chamber:

• This week welcomes two new businesses to town, Platte Valley Soap and Galaxy Luxury Nails and

Spa! Treat yourself to a nice weekend of pampered hands and feet and so on!

Fire:

• Annual flowing testing of all fire department self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) completed, this includes the airport.

• Chief submitted requested information and documentation to Verisk/ISO for a reevaluation of our public protection classification under the Fire Suppression Rating schedule.

• Attended the 8 to Great mini-course.

• Chief participated in a building tour with the City Manager and Cultural and Leisure Services Director.

HR:

• HR has successfully implemented and begun utilizing the Paylocity Onboarding module for all new employee starts. This has streamlined the hiring process and enabled the department to onboard 5 new employees in the last two weeks with another 5 employees scheduled to start before the end of September.

• Organized and conducted the monthly WNHRA meeting and facilitated discussion regarding career goals and values.

• Received training to become certified on behalf of the City for “8 to Great” program.

• HR has been working with our broker on the City’s Insurance renewal, ensuring benefits are competitive when compared to other employers in the state and surrounding communities while being affordable for the City of Alliance.

• Preparing information for auditing agencies as required, as well as helping employees with requests.

• Preparing training for upcoming staff education.

• Organizing flu shots for all employees.

• Preparation continues for Benefits module implementation in anticipation of upcoming Open Enrollment period.

Community Development:

• September 12 Planning Commission:

o Recommended approval of the preliminary plat of Myrtle 2nd Addition.

o Recommended approval of the Blighted and Substandard “Area H”.

o Recommended approval of the Blighted and Substandard “Area M”.

• There will be no September Board of Adjustment meeting due to lack of agenda items.

Airport:

• Taxiway/Apron Rehabilitation Project – Day and night inspection of all project markings was completed. Apron markings in areas where grinding was happening will occur next week. As expected there are markings that will not be accepted and it is unclear when corrections will happen. Met with the engineers to look at an issue with Taxiway D and the apron was discussed.

Contract working days continue.

• Participated in two conference calls in regards to the MALSR.

• Work continues on attempting to get car rental service at the airport.

• Warehouse area clean up with mowing and cutting down of trees up against buildings.

• Final mowing of airfield complete.

Museum:

• We hosted a two day KCOW event for local businesses in the Theater.

• Made preparations for Sundays Barn Quilt painting class. There is still time to sign up!

• We have added additional security cameras in the museum to improve security coverage.

• Continued working on archive and research databases at time allowed.

• Assisted with research for several individuals looking for classmates.

RSVP & Senior Center:

• Continued cooking meals for dine in and delivery.

• Provided donated food items to individuals having meals at the Senior Center.

Library:

• The library staff has been busy this week with getting the library decorated for fall. This is the favorite time of year for us, and we hope our patrons will enjoy coming in and seeing all the seasonal things we have to help get them ready for new fall book season!

• Children’s Librarian Cynthia Horn hosted Music Monday with Mrs. Behrends on Patriot Day featuring American songs, stories and motion. Her storytime theme this week was Swinging with Curious George. Many children have been bringing their Autumn in Alliance coloring pages for display! Everyone is invited to view these creations and to vote for their favorite in each age division from September 18-22 during library hours. Cynthia has also been making preparations for craft projects, special events and updating displays. Her ongoing projects include Book Mobile, backpacks, cataloging, sharing activity bags and YA shelf reading.

• Technical Services Librarian Emily Nelson updated the hours on our Facebook/Instagram pages and the website. She also made the weekly bookmobile deliveries, processed interlibrary loans, and updated the Staff Picks page on the website.

• Library Clerks Pam Becker and Kris Wilder have been processing more new patron cards then we have ever seen in the past, which is very exciting for us!

Parks:

• Mowed per usual and picked up grass clippings.

• Assembled one pickle ball net and took it to the courts on 16th Street for use. A second will be completed when missing parts arrive.

• Repaired some oil leaks on the mowers.

• Installed a bigger culvert in the trail at Laing Lake.

• Set up picnic tables and roll outs in Central Park for Saturday.

• Started fall spraying at Central, Lyons Park, BN ballfield, Knight Park, Bandshell and the 9th Street tennis courts.

• Removed part of the old sidewalks at the 16th Street tennis courts.

• Waiting for roofing material to arrive to complete the dugout shelters at the softball complex.
