Reflections for the Week of Sept. 13-17

Golf Course:

• The irrigation pump will be pulled on next week for repairs.

• Play continues to be consistent as the weather has been great!

Museum:

• Making preparations to replace the front doors of the building to prevent snow from blowing under the doors and to reduce our rodent population inside the building.

• Assisting with family and historic building research for individuals.

• Hosted two community events and several private meetings.

• Continued with database development and archiving records.

RSVP & Senior Center:

• Staff presented information to the Box Butte County Development Corporation on Tuesday.

• The Nutrition site is still looking to hire a cook, and attendance at the Center for meals and delivery continues to be good.

• We have continued to loan donated medical equipment to individuals in the community. This is a service provided free of charge for however long the individual requires the equipment.

Parks:

• Staff found and repaired a leak in Central Park which turned out to be an abandoned hydrant leaking water.

• Staff cleaned the fountain and treated the water with algaecide and chlorine.

• Mowing and trimming continued.

• Staff assisted with two burials this week.

Library:

• Coding Club had a successful launch this week for all ages! We are looking forward to a Fall filled with lots of learning.

• Nine preschools and daycares have already expressed an interest in weekly Bookmobile services. We are anticipating a great response from those wanting home delivery as well.

• Kathy Brock will be back in October with a macramé class! More details to follow.

• We are continuing to add to the APL OverDrive Advantage collection, which consists of titles that are exclusive to APL patrons. This is being done to help eliminate long waiting periods on Libby/OverDrive for our patrons.

Police:

• Met with Airport Security Training group to define a curriculum for all officers in Alliance.

• Stefan Yocum was promoted to Sergeant.

• Records audit spot check was completed for Nebraska State Patrol with no issues.

• Began training on evidence-based policing.

• No burglaries this week!

Chamber of Commerce:

• The Chamber Ambassadors did ribbon cuttings for Alliance Animal Clinic and Highway 2 Threads.

• Attended the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce Executives virtual meeting.

• Attended Nebraska Chamber virtual policy meetings.

• Attended the Activate Alliance virtual meeting.

• Attended the Western Nebraska Tourism Coalition virtual meeting.

Fire:

• Fire hose testing completed.

• SCBA Flow testing completed.

• Provided two Firefighters and one truck as mutual aid to Gering. Provided two additional Firefighters and one truck as mutual aid to Crawford. Additional support may be requested moving forward.

Electric:

• Finished the rebuild project on South Potash/South Grand alley.

• Rebuilt a single phase tap on CR 63 and Lincoln.

• Worked with BNSF crew on cause of an outage that affected the main yards on Kansas street, outage originated from BNSF system.

• Started installation of new service for the Berean Church expansion.

• Assisted Parks department with equipment and man power to dig up and fix water leak in Central Park.

Airport:

• Painting of the taxiways is complete!

• Passenger count for August was 325 enplaned and 313 deplaned. This is a decrease over last month, but still a greater number than normal for August.

• September has seen many days with sold-out flights already!

Administration:

• Grant application submitted to the Land and Water Conservation Fund for trails expansion
