Box Butte General Hospital (BBGH) has adjusted restrictions on the visitation policy that was
put in place due to COVID-19. Listed below are the guidelines of the revised visitation policy:
*Patients under investigation for or diagnosed with COVID-19 infection: Visitor prohibited without pre-approval from CQO or AOC
*Labor, Delivery, Post-Partum: One support person/labor partner
*Pediatric/Minor Patients: Two parents/guardian/responsible adults
*Outpatient Clinic/Procedure Area: One support person if needed
*End of Life/serious illness: At the discretion of care team, case by case
*ED Patient who needs assistance/support: One support person
*Swing Bed Patient Care Conferences: One support person
*Swing Bed Patient Outdoor Visits: One or more support person(s), no children
*Patient is a dependent adult who may need a support person to help with activities of daily living, emotional well-being or decision-making: One support person
*Clinical situation where presence of a support person may assist with determining prognosis and related decision-making: One support person
*Clergy/Chaplain are considered part of the patient’s healthcare team. Clergy visits are permitted in addition to the patient’s designated support person(s).
A designated support person can be any family member, friend or other individual who is present to support patients during the course of their care, and may include any person who plays a significant role in a patient's life regardless of whether or not they are legally related to the patient. A support person is limited to one person and cannot be a minor (19 years of age or younger). Clergy is not considered a support person, so a support person and clergy member can be in the room if needed. Requests for exceptions to any of the above inclusions must be discussed with the Chief Quality Officer or Administration on Call.
Virtual visits with patients are taking place and is still an option for patients who would like to see other family members or friends. Each room on the Patient Care Unit is equipped with a Smart TV with access to Zoom, Netflix, the internet, and more.
As directed health measures are being lifted, screening is still taking place at the main entrances of BBGH. The hospital is now only monitoring international travel. Masks are still to be worn while in the facility, except for children younger than 2 years old.
Rehabilitation patients are asked to enter through the Rehab and Wellness Center doors on the East side of the building.
Greater Nebraska Medical & Surgical Services clinics in Hemingford and Hyannis have reopened with their regular hours. The Alliance GNMSS clinic remains open; schedule an appointment at either of these locations by calling 308-762-7244.
An exciting event to look forward to in the near future is the annual Box Butte Health Foundation Golf Tournament. While the tournament will most likely be formatted a little different than it has the last two years, due to directed health measures, the original date for this year will remain August 1. Our priority, as a hospital, is the community’s safety.
