Roy Minnick Hans Obituary

Roy Minnick Hans passed away peacefully at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, on March 11, 2025, at the age of 90. Roy was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on November 8, 1934, to Bernice Jo Hans.

Roy and his mother joined family in Alliance, Nebraska, where he graduated from high school in 1954. After graduation, Roy enlisted in the United States Air Force with a duty assignment 1100th flight line maintenance squadron where he was stationed in Washington, D.C., and Japan. He was a very proud veteran of the United States Armed Forces. Upon honorable discharge, Roy returned to Western Nebraska making his home in Scottsbluff. He ultimately chose a career in highway/interstate construction as a heavy equipment operator. Roy thoroughly enjoyed his career choice traveling across Nebraska for over thirty-five years. In retirement, Roy worked on his house as well as becoming an accomplished woodworker. Roy and Sharon Clinesmith, his girlfriend of 38 years, enjoyed traveling around Nebraska, Colorado, and California.

Roy resided at Heritage Estates in Gering, Nebraska, for the last six years after an unfortunate motorcycle accident. He was remarkably active maneuvering his prized motorized wheelchair around the facility and adjoining neighborhood, maybe getting into occasional mischief with buddies at nearby construction sites. A story to be told! Roy was a resident favorite and an accomplished bingo player.

Roy was a devout follower of Christ and a member of Cornerstone Church in Scottsbluff.

Preceded in death by his mother and grandparents as well as many cousins. Roy is survived by cousins Patsy Miehi, Linda Ehrlich, Judy Landenberger, and loving girlfriend Sharon Clinesmith.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Monday, April 7, 2025, at the Heritage Estates Chapel in Gering, NE, with a reception to follow.

Burial at the Alliance City Cemetery at 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 8, 2025. All are welcome to attend.
