The Alliance Spartan Prep squad lit up the scoreboard on Tuesday in their matchup with Buckley. Alliance put tallies in the scorebook in every inning and raced past the hosts 17 to 2. On the night, the Peltz Co had 9 hits, led by Fletcher Moseman who ended the contest with 3. Spartan starting pitcher Jackson Devlin went the distance giving up 4 hits while striking out 3. The game ball was called off after the fourth inning due to the run rule.
Two quick runs by Alliance in the top of inning one gave the visitors an early lead. Teegan O’Gorman led things off with a double and scored on an RBI hit by Devlin. Following a walk to Spartan Carsen Bunnell, the Spartans added a second run on a balk by Buckley which plated run #2. The highlight in the bottom of the opening inning came when Alliance catcher Tanner Salcido gunned down a Buckley runner attempting to steal. The Peltz Co margin grew in the second with three more runs. Both Alliance’s Preston Flores and Reese Muhr reached base after being hit by a Buckley pitch. A passed ball and wild pitch by the hosts made the score 3 to 0.
The inning closed with a 2 run single by Moseman that increased the Spartan advantage to 5 to 0. Devlin put down the Buckley batters 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning and the game went to the third with Alliance leading 5 to 0.
Many Spartans helped Alliance in the top of the third as the Peltz Co garner 8 runs. Walks to Kyler Adams, Flores, and Muhr gave the Spartans a super start. Cooper Gallas reached on a fielder choice which was good for run #4. With the bases still loaded, a walk by O’Gorman led to the fifth tally. Back to back RBI hits followed by Moseman and Devlin pushed the Spartan lead to 9 to 0. Salcido was next and his walk put the Alliance lead at 10 to 0. An RBI ground out by Bunnell, a steal of home by Devlin, and a single by Flores closed the frame for Alliance with the guests ahead 13 to 0. Two Buckley hits in the bottom of the inning gave the hosts one run and the contest rolled to the fourth with the Peltz Co out in front 13 to 1.
Four more Spartan tallies in their final at bat put the contest away. RBI hits by Moseman, Salcido, and Adams made the score 17 to 1 heading to the bottom of the fourth. Buckley would tack on one run in their final attempt but it wasn’t enough. Final Alliance 17 Buckley 2.
