St. Agnes Academy’s field day took place at Bulldog Stadium on Wednesday, May 12. Third through fifth grade students participated in tug-of-war, ten field events, and two running events. The field events consisted of: standing long jump, soccer kick, sack race, hoop toss, egg race, break station, dizzy dash, softball throw, car wash relay, and three-legged race. Of these events, the standing long jump, soccer kick, and softball throw took the best scores from girls and boys and awarded first, second, and third place ribbons. The break station had snacks, water, and fabric markers for students to autograph the back of their field day shirts, donated by Shelmadine Print Shop. After all the field events were completed, the students participated in a baton relay race, but instead of a baton, small stuffed animals were used. Next was the 50-yard dash. Fastest teams and racers were awarded first though third place. The field day concluded with students eating lunch at the stadium and walking back to school.
This was another successful field day thanks to the many volunteers to help make it run smoothly. Seventh and eighth grade students also helped at each station and timed the races. We were very happy the weather was nice and we were able to have a field day as last year’s was canceled due to Covid. I look forward to next year and am already in the planning stage.
