Mr. Wade Sanders, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sanders of Alliance has been named the 2022 recipient of the Charles E. and Myrtle Slagle Fund scholarship. The Slagle Fund scholarship, in the amount of $2,000, is awarded annually to a member of the Order of DeMolay who belongs to a chapter located in the geographical area in Nebraska served by the Alliance Scottish Rite Bodies. The scholarship is payable at the rate of $500 per year while the recipient is attending a college or vocational school.
Sanders graduated this May from Alliance High School and this fall will enter Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, where he plans to major in animal science. Sanders is an active member of the Alliance Chapter, Order of DeMolay, and has served as its Master Councilor, the highest elective office, and previously held the positions of both Senior and Junior Councilor. He is a member of the National Honor Society, an outstanding athlete at Alliance High School, and a participant in a variety of academic endeavors. Sanders is also active in the community in a variety of ways including 4-H and Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
The Slagle Fund Scholarship, which is administered by the Alliance Scottish Rite Bodies, honors the memory of Dr. Charles E. Slagle and his wife Myrtle. Dr. Slagle was an early Alliance surgeon and an active member of the Alliance Scottish Rite Bodies.
