Scotts Bluff County Earns Another Dividend from NIRMA Program

Scotts Bluff County has received a $35,046 dividend check through its participation in the Nebraska Intergovernmental Risk Management Association (NIRMA) pooling program. The dividend was part of a $1,000,000 distribution shared with 83 Nebraska counties and eight county-associated agencies during NIRMA’s annual membership meeting on Oct. 25 in Kearney.

With this latest distribution, Scotts Bluff County’s own dividends from NIRMA have reached $1,181,597 in total since it joined in 1988. NIRMA issues dividends based on its strong financial standing, as aided by the members’ ongoing loss prevention efforts. This marks the 38th time since 1991 and the 29th consecutive year the program has been able to return funds.

Formed by 32 counties in 1988, NIRMA/II is Nebraska’s first governmental risk management and self-insurance program. It is owned and governed by the 84 member counties and 29 county-associated public entities it now serves. In addition to providing affordable coverage and comprehensive risk management and loss prevention services, the program has now returned a cumulative total of $27 million to its members — directly benefitting local property taxpayers.
