Gordon gain a split of a twin bill on Tuesday with a 10 to 8 win over the Alliance Navy club in the late ball game. Security First put 10 on the board in their first three at bat in getting the victory. The Spartans held a 6 to 3 lead in the second but seven straight scores by the hosts were to much too overcome. Dixon Bair led the offense for the Peltz Co with 2 of the Spartans’ 5 hits. Pitching for the Navy team was starter Casyn Rodriguez and relief hurlers Kylar Adams and Reese Muhr. Alliance did capture the opener 10 to 0. With the loss, the Spartans now have a 22-23-2 mark of the year.
Alliance scored first in the opening minutes of the contest. A Rodriguez walk began the action and the Spartan pitcher moved into scoring position after Israel Garcia was hit by a Gordon pitch. Alliance’s first run then came after a sacrifice fly off the bat of Logan Freiberger. Gordon answered right back with a 3 spot in the bottom of the first. Security First used an error by Alliance, a walk, and 2 hits to surge ahead 3 to 1. The Peltz Co had their best inning offensively in the top of the second with 5 scores. RBI ground outs by Rodriguez and Tanner Salcido along with hits by Eban Lore and Jackson Devlin helped the Spartans take the lead. The scoring ended with a run scoring single by Freiberger that put the Peltz Co ahead 6 to 3. Gordon bats again came alive in the bottom of the second with 4 more tallies. The hosts had 4 hits in the frame to take a 7 to 6 margin after 2 innings of play.
A single by Bair gave the Spartans hope in the top of inning 3 but he was left on the bags. Three more scores by the hosts in the home half make it a 10 to 6 contest. A big three run triple by Gordon helped Security First increase their advantage. In the fourth, both squads failed to score. Alliance put together a rally in their last at bat in the fifth. The Spartans got a walk by Lore that kick started a Peltz Co spree. Devlin was next and he reached after getting hit by a Gordon pitch. Both runners then scored after another knock by Bair. Unfortunately, Gordon was able to record the last outs to preserve the W. Final Security First 10 Peltz Co 8
