Seniors Drop an 8 to 2 Decision to Mitchell for Fifth Loss on the Year

Mitchell scored runs in five of the seven innings and defeated the Alliance seniors 8 to 2 in the late game on Saturday. The contest was played in Alliance and was as part of the Conley tournament. With the loss, the Peltz Co fell to 16 and 5 for the season. On offense, the Spartans ended with 7 hits with Creighton Fritzler being the leader with 2. Lexton Salcido started for the seniors and pitched 4 frames. The last 3 innings were hurled by Fletcher Moseman and Kegan Rodriguez .

Two first inning tallied by the South Dakota squad gave the guests an early margin. Mitchell used a single, 2 errors by the Peltz Co, a sac fly to go up 2 to 0 in the top of the first. Alliance was held scoreless in the bottom of the inning . Inning 2 was a good one for Salcido as the Alliance pitcher sat down the visitors 1-2-3. Three knocks by the Spartans got the hosts in the score column in the home half. Alliance got hits from Nason Thompson, Fritzler, and Jaxson Esparza to make it a 2 to 1 ball game after 2 innings of action.

No runs were scored in the third. Alliance got a hit by Rodriguez but no tallies. Mitchell had their best inning offensively in the fourth with 3 scores. The South Dakota club a 2 run double and a triple to surge ahead 5 to 1. A Fritzler knock was the lone Alliance highlight in the bottom of the frame. Both squads scored in the fifth. The guests had a pair of doubles to increase their advantage to 6 to 1. Alliance closed the gap to 4 with hits by Espen Lanik and Carved Nemnich in the bottom of the fifth. After 5 complete, the Peltz Co was down 6 to 2.

Another Mitchell run in the sixth put the score at 7 to 2. The Spartans went quietly in their at bat in the bottom of the frame. A triple by Mitchell in their final at bat led to run #8 for the guest. Alliance ended the game with a scoreless seventh inning. Final Mitchell 8. Alliance 2
