Old rivals Alliance and Sidney met Monday night in Alliance. The Spartans used 12 hits in downing the Post 17 squad 13 to 5. With the victory, the Peltz Co now has a 7 and 2 record for the season. A five run second inning helped the hosts post the W. Two Spartans-Creighton Fritzler and Espan Lanik-led the Alliance offense with 3 hits apiece. Cody Galles started the game and went 4 plus innings. Galles was relieved by Lexton Salcido who recorded 3 strikeout in 1 plus innings. The contest was stopped in the bottom of the sixth due the run rule.
Galles was solid in the opening inning as the Platte Valley team was held scoreless. Alliance also went down quietly in their first at bat. Sidney got a hit in the second but a double play flipped by the Spartan defense kept the game scoreless. In the bottom of the second, the Spartan offense kicked into gear with 5 tallies. The Peltz Co got hits from Mikey Johnson, Fritzler, Lanik, Jaxson Esparza, and Carver Nemnich to take a 5 to 0 lead. In the top of the third, Galles continued his big effort with scoreless frame. The Spartans extended their advantage in the home half of inning with 2 more scores. Knocks by Galles, Fritzler, and Lanik made the game a 7 to 0 contest.
Sidney would win inning #4 with 2 runs while the Spartans failed to score in the frame. Heading to the fifth, the Peltz Co was up 7 to 2. Platte Valley made things interesting in the at bat in the top of the fifth. Sidney closed their deficit to 2 at 7 to 5 with 3 scores. Alliance also 3 tallies in the inning to go up by 5. Walks by Galles and Lanik began the scoring. A Sidney passed ball made it an 8 to 5 game. Spartan Kobe Strom was next and his double plated run #9. The inning closed with a wild pitch by Post 17 that made the scoreboard read Alliance 10 Sidney 5. Salcido had 2 k’s in Sidney’s last at bat while the Peltz Co ended the game with 3 scores in the bottom of the sxith. An RBI single by Fritzler gave the Spartans a 6 run cushion. Lanik then singled and the game came to a conclusion on 2 run double by Strom. Final Alliance 13 Sidney 5
