Seniors stop Outlaws 10 to 6

Action in Gillette on Saturday had the Alliance Seniors in a matchup with the Outlaws of Three Forks, Montana. The Spartans used 9 hits to overpower Gallatin 10 to 6. Alliance’s big inning was the second as the Peltz Co tallied 5 runs to take a big lead. On offense, two Spartans-Carver Nemnich and Jaxson Esparza- ended the contest with 2 hits each. Espen Lanik tossed the first 3 frames with Cody Galles hurling the last 4.

Gallatin Valley batted first and went scoreless. Alliance put one in the score column in the home half. Jaxon Poss reached on an error by the Outlaws and later scored the first tally after a wild pitch. Three Forks took a brief lead in the top of the second with 2 scores. The Seniors escaped any further damage with a double play that ended the Outlaws rally. In the bottom of the inning, the Peltz Co came to life with 5 scores. Walks to Kobe Strom and EJ Garcia plus a hit batter of Braeden Clarke loaded the base paths for Tony Escamilla who also walked to tie the game at 2. Lanik was next and his 2 run double gave the Spartans a 4 to 2 lead. An RBI groundout by Nemnich gave Alliance a 3 run margin. The frame closed with a wild pitch and the Spartans up 6 to 2.

Innings 3 and 4 had both teams failing to score. An Alliance double play in the third kept the Spartans up by 4. Strom had a single in the home half but was left on the bags. In the fifth, the Outlaws got one back on 3 hits and a walk. The Peltz Co responded with a 3 spot in the bottom of the fifth. Knocks by Nemnich, Nason Thompson, Esparza, Garcia, and Clarke pushed the Alliance advantage to 9 to 3. Gallatin went down quietly in the top of inning #6 while the Spartans added to their lead with another score. The Peltz Co got hits by Nemnich and Esparza to extend their lead to 10 to 3. In the seventh, Three Forks put 3 on the board thanks to 4 hits and a passed ball. Final Alliance 10 Gallatin Valley 6
