The Alliance seventh grade football team saw their season come to an end last week with a pair of road games. Alliance traveled to Chadron on Tuesday then concluded their year with a contest in Mitchell. In both games the Bulldogs played well and kept things close before falling. AMS ends their season with a 1 and 5 record. In Chadron the Dogs led 8 to 0 at the end of the first period only to see the hometown Cards score 26 points in the second and go on for the win. Against the Tigers of Mitchell the Bulldogs fell behind 27 to 0 in the opening half and not recover.
Big play by Alliance’s Cormic Stark helped the Dogs grab on early lead versus Chadron. A pick by Stark stopped the Cardinals and it was followed by touchdown pass by Cisco Cody to Stark which covered 17 yards to get the Dogs on the scoreboard. Israel Garcia added the point after and the quarter ended with AMS up 8 to 0. Chadron began the second with a score but were stopped on the point after by an interception by Alliance’s Grayson Dibrito. Midway through the period the Cards scored again and surge ahead 14 to 8. Garcia answered right back on a 62 yard run which tied the score at 14. The half came to a close with 2 more Chadron scores and Alliance down 26 to 14.
In the third both teams traded 3 and out series. A Card interception stopped the ensuing Bulldog drive and the period ended with Chadron still ahead 26 to 14. On the first play of the final stanza the Cards found the end zone again on a 6 yard touchdown run. Bulldog Casyn Nelson’s hard hit would stop the pat. Another big run by Garcia gave Alliance a chance on their next series but the drive and the game ended with a Chadron pick.

At Mitchell on Saturday the Dogs fell behind early and never recovered. Mitchell grabbed the early advantage with a one yard touchdown run to go up 6 to 0. A nice kick return by Stark was followed by another long run by Garcia. Alliance was turned away with a Mitchell interception in the end zone.
The period ended with AMS down 6 to 0. Three more Tiger scored in the second put the game out of reach. Right before half AMS got on the board on a 9 yard pass from Cody to Garcia. At half the Tigers led 27 to 6.
Another Alliance fumble early in the third hurt the Dogs chances. Both teams had opportunities in the third but were turned away. The game ended with another Tigers score and Mitchell winning 41 to 6.
