Shortly after noon on Sunday, June 29, 2025, the communications center received a report that a four-year-old boy’s foot had been severed in a lawn mower accident at a rural residence near Mitchell NE. Scotts Bluff County Deputies, the Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department, and Regional West Ambulance responded.
An off-duty medical professional was nearby and rendered aid immediately. AirLink flew the boy to Regional West Medical Center, and he was then flown to a Denver hospital for further treatment.
Investigation indicates that this was an accidental event, and we anticipate no criminal charges.
Because there are no charges indicated, we are not naming any of the parties involved.
