Sheryl Lynn Buskirk Obituary

Sheryl Lynn Buskirk, 64, passed away Friday, August 6, 2021 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born on February 20, 1957 in Rushville, Nebraska to Norman Lyle and Bonnie Jean (Tiensvold) Elwood.

On September 22, 1980, at the Box Butte County Courthouse, Sheryl was united in marriage to the love of her life and biggest supporter, Tracy Buskirk. Sheryl and Tracy lived in Alliance, Nebraska for the duration of their marriage where they raised their four children. Sheryl ran a busy daycare in her home for many years before retirement.

Sheryl was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Alliance. Her church family played a special part in her life and was such a comfort to her. She was also a member of the ladies bridge club in Alliance and always looked forward to playing each week.

Some of Sheryl and Tracy’s fondest memories of their life together are camping with their children. They loved to visit the Black Hills of South Dakota and spending time at the lake.

Sheryl never turned down a game of cards, loved a good football game, and enjoyed cooking and baking for her large family.

Sheryl’s lasting legacy will always be the love she had for her many grandchildren. She was truly their rock and their biggest fan. They had such a special place in her heart. She was a comforting soul who made everyone feel welcome in her home and also in her heart.

She is survived by her husband, Tracy Buskirk; her children, Dana (Ben) Bauer, Monica (Derrick Warfield) Febry, Brittany (Marco) Gonzalez and Cody (Stevi) Buskirk; her 23 grandchildren, and her siblings Susan Cook, Steve Elwood, Soni Palmer, Sindy Coburn, and Scott Elwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Shelli Smith.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, August 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Alliance with Pastor Gary Belk officiating. Inurnment will follow in the  Alliance Cemetery. A Reception will follow at the Eagles Club at 1520 West 3rd Street in Alliance.
