Short Handed Bulldogs Fall to Mitchell

The Lady Bulldogs tried their best and gave 100 percent, but fell short in a loss to the Tigers 38 to 15. Alliance gave up just 16 baskets and fight to the finish in the contest. Mitchell also was victorious in the earlier JV game, defeating the Dogs 44 to 17.

A 2 pointer by Norris started the scoring and free throws by Salcido and Norris made the score 4 to 0 in Alliance’s favor at the 4 minute mark of the opening quarter. The Tigers answered back with a three and a 2 point goal to move ahead by 1 but a free throw by Bulldog Paz Cody knotted the battle at 5. In the final moments, the hosts scored and led 7 to 5 after one period of play. Just as in Friday’s loss to Gering, the Alliance offense was shutout in the second. Mitchell used a full court press that led to a few opportunities and kept the Dogs off the score board. Overall, the Tigers would score 11 points in period #2 as Alliance trailed 18 to 5 at half.

In the third, the Tigers kept the heat on the Alliance offense. Mitchell tallied the quarter’s 5 points to increase their margin to 23 to 5.
