Simon Donates Diesel Engine, Transmission to WNCC Diesel Tech Program

Western Nebraska Community College recently received an in-kind donation of a diesel engine and transmission from Simon, a construction company based out of Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Simon has operations in Scottsbluff, Colorado, Wyoming and South Dakota. Simon also offers all levels of employment in the construction industry across the four state area. Simon donated the engine and transmission to WNCC’s Diesel, Truck & Heavy Equipment Technology program.

“Simon is proud to support community engagement, career development within construction, and promotion of the construction industry,” Jeromy Smith, shop manager at Simon said.

Charlie Gregory, dean of instruction at WNCC, said that the opportunity for students to get hands-on experience with different manufacturers helps better prepare them for a career after college.

“It is very rewarding to train students from our region that want to remain in the region,” Gregory said. “Donations such as this from Simon gives students an opportunity to get hands-on a variety of engine manufacturers and models that expands their overall knowledge and prepares them for work in the industry on a variety of equipment.”

“Support and donations from our industry partners help enhance programs. We’re grateful to Simon for the donation of an engine and transmission to our Diesel, Truck, and Heavy Equipment program,” Jennifer Reisig, WNCC Foundation executive director said. “Our students are eager for an opportunity to train using this additional equipment.”
