Sister Francesa Delgado was born in Kansas City, Kansas December 1, 1935. She died Friday, November 1, 2024at Highland Park Care Center, Alliance, Nebraska.
Sr. Francesca’s parents were Francisco Delgado and Carmen Rodriguez Delgado. She was given the name Natalie when baptized but was known as Nellie by family, friends and many who knew her.
She entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity as Candidate January 12, 1957, from Veteran Wyoming and made final vows August 15, 1960. It was at this time she was given the name Sister Francesca.
She earned a Diploma from Famous Artist’s School in Westpoint, Connecticut in 1970. Sister Francesca received her License in Cosmetology in 1973 in Alliance, Nebraska. Sr. Francesca was kept busy by both teaching Art at St Agnes Academy and working as a Beautician in Alliance, Nebraska.
In Denver Colorado, Sister Francesca taught art at Marycrest High School and at Guardian Angels Grade School. Sr. Francesca had a beauty parlor on the third floor at Marycrest Convent.
Besides her services to the Sisters of St Francis she looked after her parents. Sister Francesca moved to Moses Lake, Washington to care for her elderly parents. During this time, she would reach out to the people in need in the community of Moses Lake.
In October 2016, Sr. Francesca moved to Alliance, Nebraska to live with the Sisters at Marian Residence. After Marian Residence closed in May 2022, she moved to Highland Park Care Center in Alliance.
She had a gentle and generous spirit, and a quick sense of humor. In her own quiet way Sister Francesca had been faithful in following in the footsteps of Christ and St. Francis.
Sister Francesca is survived by her brother, Frank (Sherry); her sisters, Mary Hesting (Bob), Lola Monroe (Richard), Lydia Mullineaux and Sally Petree (Jack); her sisters-in-law, Linda, Selmaann and Kathleen and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Joe, Pete, Simon and Leonard; her sister, Frances Shipe and an infant sister, Julia, sister-in-law Elvita; and brothers-in-law Mike Shipe and Rodney Mullineaux.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Matt Koperski officiating. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. Sister Francesca will be laid to rest with her family at Royal Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Royal City, Washington.
