Sister Karen McCrory, 74, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Regional West Medical Center.
She was born October 28, 1946 in Canon City, CO to Charles Lowell and Arletta Leona (Klepper) McCrory. She received her associate’s degree from Adams State College in 1971.
Sister Karen followed the Lord’s call to the Sisters of St. Francis and entered as a candidate at Marycrest Convent in Denver on June 11, 1975. She professed her vows on June 4, 1978.
Sister Karen’s ministry began in Pastoral Ministry at Marycrest in Denver and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Minot, ND. In 1987 she began mission work in Tanzania, Africa for 3 years. She would then return to Minot in pastoral ministry. In 1998 she moved to Denver and attended Cottonwood School of Massage Therapy. In 2004 she relocated to Alliance and opened her own office. Sister Karen would continue her ministry in massage therapy in both Alliance and Denver. While in Denver she also worked in ministry for the Guadalupe Community and in Alliance with parish ministry at Holy Rosary Parish. She retired in 2017.
She is survived by her brother, Loren McCrory of Cahone, CO, and her niece and nephews, Braden McCrory, Morgen McCrory and Shawn McCrory of Colorado.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 5 at Marian Chapel. Due to COVID concerns, the service will be private. Sister Karen will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Alliance.
