Slow Start Plagues Lady Bulldogs in Loss to Ogallala

A 17 to 0 beginning proved to be too costly for the Alliance girl’s basketball team on Friday in a road game against Ogallala. The Bulldogs fell to the Indians 67 to 24 to drop to 1 and 14 on the season. Ogallala raced to 19 to 2 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. The Indians were also solid in the third period, outscoring the Dogs 17 to 1. Leading the offense for AHS was Macey Seebohm who tallied 10 points while hauling in 5 rebounds. Ogallala also won the JV matchup, defeating the Dogs 47 to 20.

Ogallala used a strong defensive effort plus points from the free throw line and behind the arc to get the early advantage. The game started with 2 free throws by the hosts and a three pointer as the Dogs fell behind 5 to 0. Three straight 2 pointers by the Indians later in the quarter gave OG an 11 to 0 lead at the four minute mark. Ogallala’s defense would remain strong throughout the opener with Alliance only getting 2 free throws by Seebohm with 29 seconds left in the quarter. The stanza came to a close with more tallies by the hosts and AHS down 19 to 2.

A three by Seebohm pulled the Dogs to within 14 at the start of the second but an 8 to 0 run by the Indians ensued that put the Alliance deficit at 23. With under 5 minutes left in the half, the Dogs got 2 more Seebohm free throws plus a trey by the senior to make the scoreboard read 28 to 10. From there it was all Ogallala. The Indians close out the half on a 12 to 5 spree. Alliance would get a three pointer by Miah Marsteller and 2 free throws by Paz Cody and trailed 40 to 15 after 2 periods of action.

Period #3 was another tough one for the Dogs. Ogallala again was stout on the defensive side, limiting the visitors to just one point. The Indian offense continued their red hot shooting. Ogallala netted a 2 pointer, a three, and a free throw in the early stages of the quarter that increased their margin to 31 at 46 to 15 with 6 minutes left in the quarter. The game’s next 11 points then belonged to OG as the Indian lead grew to 57 to 15. At the buzzer, Bulldog KK Adams was fouled and made one from the line. Ogallala led 57 to 16 heading to the final 8 minutes. Play was even in the fourth with the Indians tallying 10 points and Alliance netting 8. Brooke Bailey started the scoring for AHS with a deuce. It was followed by another three by Marsteller and a three point play by Adams. Final Ogallala 67 Alliance 24
